The Assistant Director for WBLI will partner with the WBLI Academic Director to create and implement leadership development experiences, content, and tools uniquely customized to University of Cincinnati undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, and community members. Examples may include leadership workshops, training programs, books, the annual Warren Bennis Leadership Experience, mobile applications, podcasts, etc.

The Assistant Director will engage with the WBLI Advisory Board and the Academic Liaisons Group to refine and implement a university-wide model for student leader development. The Assistant Director will align leader development with the guidelines provided by the Carnegie Foundation's Elective Classification including assessment of student learning, curricular and co-curricular offerings, engagement, and impact. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the Academic Director to develop strategy, long-range planning, and internal and external partnerships. The Assistant Director may teach a course, facilitate seminars or workshops, and supervise staff.

The Assistant Director will be under the general supervision of the WBLI Academic Director and will generally assist with the administration and direction of the interdisciplinary Leadership Institute. The Assistant Director will be primarily responsible for operational and administrative duties involving the daily functioning of the Institute such as reconciling credit card payments, ordering supplies, event planning, setting meetings, documenting meeting notes and action items, responding to email inquiries, updating website content, developing promotional materials, etc.

This position will have the option of a hybrid work schedule (3 days in the office/2 days work from home) for those with a residence within OH/IN/KY following 90 days of training. Residence must be in the tri-state area within reasonable distance to UC Main Campus to have ability to report to campus as required. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.

• Assist with preparation of annual unit operating budget recommendations; develop, implement, and monitor assigned budgets; limited signature authority for purchases and payroll.
• Prepare reports, disseminate/interpret information, provide advice, write proposals, deliver presentations, construct contractual agreements, and ensure that all programs and services comply with university, state and federal regulations.
• Communicate and assist students, faculty/staff, and corporate partners in resolving questions and complex issues; represent the university internally and externally.
• Assist with administrative leadership and supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff; hire, orient, train, mentor, and evaluate assigned staff; monitor and coordinate staff development and training programs.
• Serve on various university/college committees and may represent the Institute at various state and national associations/conferences; may function for the Director or Associate Director in his/her absence, as required.
• Develops, implements, administers, and evaluates programs by: conducting research activities within the program, analyzing data, creating reports, reviewing trends, and making program improvement recommendations.
• Develops and implements strategies related to outreach, events, communications, development, partnerships and fundraising/funding.
• Will be responsible for preparing and teaching courses, seminars, and workshops as determined by Institute offerings.
• May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Bachelor's Degree

Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement

Three (3) years related experience

• A Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Leadership Development, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Education, or a relevant discipline) with at least five (5) years of related experience.
• Professional coaching certification (e.g., ICF Certification at least ACC level).
• Certifications or training in leadership development, facilitation, assessment tools.
• Experience teaching or facilitating leadership courses, workshops, or seminars at the university level
• 3+ years of experience supervising teams, mentoring staff, or managing leadership cohorts.
• Experience with budget management, program administration, and policy development.
• Ability to build and manage partnerships with corporate, nonprofit, or academic institutions.
• Research experience in leadership development, mentorship, or student success.
• Experience in grant writing, securing funding, or managing leadership development initiatives in partnership with foundations, corporations, or government agencies.
• Experience with cross-cultural leadership development and international leadership training.
• Podcasting or media experience related to leadership education.
