About the opportunity

SWCA's Nevada team is growing its ecological restoration business and seeks an Assistant Project Landscape Architect to support our work in in the Southwest USA. This is a temporary, hourly, non-exempt position reporting into our Las Vegas, NV office. Highly-qualified, remote (= distributed) candidates are encouraged to apply.

What you will accomplish

  • Provide landscape design, education, installation and maintenance for residential, restoration and commercial projects.
  • Proficient and able to design in applicable software programs, including AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, ArcGIS, Twinmotion, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign, Procreate, Rhino, and Sketchup.
  • Interface with clients to develop conceptual designs, construction documents and community engagement.
  • Observe and provide input on installation of landscape designs
  • Support business development efforts, including support of scope and budget development.
  • Take responsibility for team safety, developing safety plans (when applicable), and anticipate potential safety hazards.

Experience and qualifications for success

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent design degree.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient in one or more applicable software programs, such as AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign, etc.
  • 1-year of design experience (may include educational experience), including some landscape design experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Landscape Architecture, with career track to achieve Landscape Architecture (LA) licensure.
  • Experience propagating native or horticultural plants in a nursery setting.
  • Degree in or advanced coursework in botany, including experience identifying plants using a dichotomous key.
  • Experience with soil characterization, such as wetland delineation or soil survey.
  • Experience in commercial sales or business development.
  • Field data collection using GPS.

An employee in this Las Vegas-based position can expect a rate of $31.05/hour to $39.69/hour. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
