The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.

Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Part-Time Traffic Checker. This position is responsible for collecting, entering, and managing transit ridership and performance data across MTA's bus, light rail, and metro (subway) services. Part-Time Traffic Checkers play a critical role in monitoring and recording passenger travel patterns, operational performance, and service reliability, which supports MTA's commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and dependable public transportation.

This is a part-time field position that primarily involves working outdoors to observe and document transit operations. However, during certain events, employees may be required to monitor bus and rail activities digitally from the office. Employees in this classification do not supervise and work under the general supervision of the External Reporting and Policy Control Manager or another designated official.

The current vacancy is in Baltimore City, MD.


Qualifications

EDUCATION: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED).

Must be at least 21 years of age or older

EXPERIENCE: Must have six (6) months of continuous employment (with the same employer).
