Our employee-owned team of design and engineering professionals is seeking an architect with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and secure new contracts. As the Corporate & Industrial Market Manager, you will advance our design services within the energy, food and beverage, and manufacturing sectors. You will collaborate with leadership to pursue opportunities locally and nationally, assess strategic business objectives, and outline annual business development plans. Your responsibilities will include identifying strategic clients, tracking opportunities, leading proposal development, and cross-selling services across markets. You will also present design solutions and plans to clients, stakeholders, and perform public engagement.
You will oversee project management activities, collaborating with project managers and technical group managers to define project scope, negotiate contracts, assemble project teams, and ensure design quality and accuracy. Occasionally, you may assume the role of project manager for significant projects. Additionally, you will lead the design process for various projects, collaborating closely with clients to create functional, aesthetic, and sustainable designs. You will coordinate with in-house professionals, participate in meetings, provide progress updates, and adhere to project schedules and budgets.
For this opportunity we are seeking a qualified professional who resides within a regular commuting distance of our Bloomington, Minnesota office location and who can travel regionally and nationally as needed (up to 10%) based on assigned responsibilities. TKDA provides employees with flexible hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote) work arrangements.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of ten years of multi-disciplined project management experience with a successful track record and reputation of effectively managing stakeholder expectations, project scope, fee estimates, budgets, and schedules.
  • Fifteen or more years of progressive design experience with a strong portfolio highlighting extensive industrial and manufacturing facility design experience.
  • NAAB accredited degree in architecture or landscape architecture and professional registration in one or more states, preferably in the State of Minnesota; alternative years of experience equivalent to registration would also be considered.
  • Prior business development experience demonstrated by an ability to strengthen existing relations and an ability to cultivate new and prospective relations while identifying and securing new project opportunities.
  • Thorough understanding of the energy, food and beverage, and/or manufacturing market(s) and an ability to foresee facility needs and expectations related to operations, regulatory requirements, and financial budgets / funding sources; ability to identify trends, suggest holistic design solutions, and guide conceptual ideas into functional and buildable solutions.
  • Previous experience coaching and mentoring emerging design and project management professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply effective written, verbal, and visual communication and presentation skills when developing proposals, preparing technical reports and documentation, conducting project interviews and capabilities presentations, leading project team meetings, engaging in market development and business planning discussions, and representing TKDA at professional events and conferences.
Advantageous Qualifications
  • NCARB certification or registration in additional states, preferably Wisconsin, Illinois, Washington, or California.
  • Previous experience contributing to or outlining client and market development plans as well as annual and multi-year strategic business plans to meet project, market, division, and corporate revenue and profit goals.
  • Portfolio consisting of workplace/office, airport, or military project experience.
  • Current affiliation or active membership with professional associations (AIA, CSI, ICC, etc.).
  • LEED Accreditation.
  • General working knowledge of design applications including Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • General working knowledge of graphics applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design and Sketch-up.
  • CID or NCIDQ certification.
The listed salary range reflects base compensation for candidates who possess the qualifications outlined within the posting. Offered compensation will be determined based on applicable experience, required and desired qualifications, and demonstrated performance related to primary responsibilities.
