This position assists with the tracking, trending and investigation, and reporting of occurrences, providing data to other leaders in the organization, and promoting process improvement to support patient safety activities. The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills and clinical background necessary to analyze Safety Event reports to determine causes and assign to the appropriate leadership for review and further action and follow up. The incumbent assists the Renown Health Risk Manager in mentoring and developing risk department staff, fostering an environment of continuous learning and advancement. The incumbent must be highly motivated, self-directed and able to work independently and collaborate with staff, leaders and providers across the network. Must have the ability to work under pressure with time constraints, demonstrating proficiency in time management, prioritization and ability to manage multiple projects. The incumbent must demonstrate content expert knowledge in a minimum of three high risk topics related to patient safety. Provides education and guidance to colleagues and providers on these and other risk related topics. The incumbent position requires advanced leadership skills to recognize the need to alter the approach based on department goals and objectives, as well as the operating environment. The incumbent demonstrates emotional intelligence based on the ability to handle changes within the department, adverse situations, conflict and difficult people. It is common to encounter potential hazards in the healthcare environment. Some of these hazards could include, but are not limited to: Radiation, Toxic Chemicals, Biological Hazards, Heat, Noise, Dust and Stress.
