An Engineering Technician supports engineers by assisting in the development, testing, and maintenance of products and systems. Their responsibilities include setting up and operating equipment, conducting experiments, building prototypes, and collecting data to ensure products meet quality and performance standards. They also troubleshoot and repair technical issues, maintain detailed records of their work, and prepare reports to communicate findings to the engineering team. Engineering Technicians often collaborate with engineers to implement design changes and improvements. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow complex instructions are essential for success in this role.

What You'll Do



  • Assist engineering with the creation and documentation of new designs including concept, design, and development of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Provide information to support costing activities for internally designed and customer designed solutions.
  • Coordinate prototyping with internal and external partners to deliver products to the customer expectations.
  • Coordinate purchasing raw materials to support prototype manufacturing as required.
  • Support the purchase and ongoing calibration of engineering equipment used in prototype manufacturing.
  • Ensure ongoing maintenance of engineering equipment as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the lab areas.
  • Communicate risks or delays in the completion of customer prototypes.
  • Conduct or assist with the testing of new product prototypes to verify product and its conformance to specifications.
  • Work with engineering staff on process development and process validation activities.
  • Assist in the transfer of designs, processes, and equipment into production.
  • Create and process ECNs/ECOs, as required, to ensure documentation is released, controlled, and remains accurate.
  • Review and prepare drawings, establish product standards and specifications, and ensure documentation is accurate.
  • Review and provide input on engineering designs for accuracy, feasibility, economics, and conformance to best engineering practice.
  • Complete reverse engineering activities to determine product specifications and materials.
  • Understand industry standards and organizational policies / procedures and ensure they are met.
  • Develop or provide input into Bill of Materials for prototype builds.
  • Work closely with all functions to ensure information is relayed and documented for a smooth release of new products to production.
  • Communicate with internal customers to provide technical information, recommendations, action plans, and
  • identification/evaluation of risk.
  • Assist technical personnel with program feasibility assessments and proposals.
  • Support the development and implementation of best practices, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Support the implementation and use of lean methodologies such as Daily Visual Management, A3 Problem Solving, and Kaizen.
  • Other duties as assigned


What You'll Bring

Junior Engineering Technician (P1)



  • Associate degree in an Engineering Technology program preferred. Direct experience and qualifications will be considered in lieu of an associate degree in an Engineering Technology program.



Associate Engineering Technician (P2)



  • Associate degree in an Engineering Technology program preferred. Direct experience and qualifications will be considered
  • in lieu of an associate degree in an Engineering Technology program.
  • 3+ years of Engineering Technician experience required.



Senior Engineering Technician (P3)



  • Associate degree in an Engineering Technology program preferred. Direct experience and qualifications will be considered in lieu of an associate degree in an Engineering Technology program.
  • 5+ years of Engineering Technician experience required.



Staff Engineering Technician (P4)



  • Associate degree in an Engineering Technology program preferred. Direct experience and qualifications will be considered in lieu of an associate degree in an Engineering Technology program.
  • 10+ years of Engineering Technician experience required.
