Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

What We're Looking For:

Looking for a new challenge in the satellite communications industry? Iridium is seeking an RF Hardware Test Engineer III who will be responsible for independently delivering high-quality work and driving projects and deliverables to completion. This role will help lead the support of Value Added Manufacturer (VAM) development from application design and development tool support through testing and certification. What You'll Do:

    Develop and execute documentation materials, including creating certification test guides, Develop and manage certification documentation, including test guides, plans, and procedures.
  • Analyze VAM test results to ensure compliance with certification standards.
  • Collaborate with VAMs, providing guidance and support throughout the certification process.
  • Improve Iridium product quality by conducting thorough and efficient testing.
  • Assist in developing internal test plans and tools to address project and quality issues.
  • Manage various Iridium test management tools and ensure successful certification outcomes.
  • Drive process improvements within the team and maintain effective communication with peers and management.
  • Utilize and manage RF lab equipment and general networking knowledge for testing purposes.
  • Write and present technical documentation and findings confidently to various stakeholders.
  • Support system architecture development, RF hardware design, and participate in design reviews.


Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or Master of Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of engineering experience required
  • Or Community college Certifications, Associate, or other degrees with 10+ years of directly related Software QA Engineer work experience
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to confidently present products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues
  • Advanced knowledge of operating RF lab test equipment
  • Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions or come up with solutions
  • Be comfortable managing upward, including being a proactive communicator and asking for help when needed
  • Have confidence and be able to establish valuable relationships with others
  • Must be able to prioritize key tasks and have a strong sense of ownership over your work
  • Be active in seeking out ways to continuously improve yourself and gain new knowledge

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • General Networking Knowledge, to include at a minimum: TCP/IP, Routing & Switching
  • Experience with 3GPP standards and certification
  • Ability to writing technical documentation such as test plans, technical memos, and procedures
  • Demonstrated experience designing RF circuits & analysis
  • Complete knowledge of RF Cascade analysis (gain, noise, intercept, etc.)
  • Testing and debugging RF circuit boards, modules, and systems
  • Proficient in the use of Linux systems, the use of Virtual Machines, Internet protocols and programming skills in python
  • Familiarity with SW test infrastructure & QA tools (e.g., Jira, Git, Bamboo)
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose the root cause of testing failures
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Project management experience is highly desirable.

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For in-person meetings, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
