What you'll do

Keeping our systems, technology, and employees safe is a key priority for ViaSat. As a System Administrator for classified systems, you will focus on providing technical support for Viasat's Corporate Information System Security Manager (ISSM).

The day-to-day

  • Perform various configuration management and system/network maintenance activities, account management, etc.
  • Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with the governing authority guidance and customer directives.
  • Maintain records of HW/SW revisions and ensures all actions are documented as required.
  • Participate in continuous monitoring, analysis, and response activities related to information system security and incident events.
  • Participate in security audits and assessments to ensure that site SIPRNET infrastructure meets the required security standards and follows regulations.
  • Provide input to our DevOps team to enhance operational efficiencies, consistent implementation and minimize security risks.
  • Collaborate openly with team members and customers to understand business requirements, optimize solutions, and identify and implement forward facing opportunities.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ year of experience administering and securing Linux (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu); Windows Server modern migrations and administration; Active Directory; logging and monitoring, file systems, group policy, backup management, TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP 4+ years in a DoD, or other industrial security program.
  • Strong experience with DoD Risk Manage Framework (RMF) process, including the deployments of STIGs, review and remediation of Nessus findings, and use of SCAP and ACAS/Security Center.
  • 2+ years of experience with secure implementation and administration of OpenShift, LXD, and similar solutions.
  • Experience with configuration and hardening of network solutions (Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, encryption devices).
  • Experience managing NetApp or other centralized storage solutions.
  • Strong skill in research, critical thinking, and analytical reasoning to address troubleshooting and develop recommendations for continual improvement.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills to partner with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet urgent deadlines.
  • DoD 8140.01 Certification (CISSP, Security+, etc.).
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.

What will help you on the job

  • Experience with creation and deployment of containers.
  • Experience using and creating actionable content in Splunk.
  • Experience in a classified cloud environment.
  • Experience using automation and orchestration tools to run configurations, push updates, and deploy resources.

Salary range

$105,000.00 - $167,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $130,000.00- $195,000.00/ annually
