Your Role With Us:

Safety Analyst's at Salem Health are responsible for the implementation and effectiveness of Salem Health safety compliance program under the direction of the Safety Manager.

Core Functions:

  • Compliance with: Fire Prevention, Joint Commission, EPA & DEQ regulations, and SHA regulations.
  • Responsible for the design and delivery of safety training for new and existing employees, volunteers and contractors for all safety compliance programs related to healthcare. Includes creating computer-based learning modules for new and refresher training.
  • Leadership of EOC Inspection Team.
  • Review, be familiar with, EOC, elements of performance requirements and help develop strategies for compliance to those standards.
  • Coordinate any implementation of new standards and/or requirements, review prospectus' and other materials which drive survey hot topic issues.
  • Serve as a resource in EOC standards and compliance.
  • Under direction of the Safety Manager, coordinate the organizations safety committee.
  • Responsible for implementation and operation of the hazardous waste program.

    Background/Expertise:

    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in security, environmental, occupational health and safety with preference in a healthcare setting.
    • Minimum of (2) years of experience in hazardous waste management and EPA regulations.
    • Minimum of one (2) year of demonstrated training experience, capable in researching, developing and delivering a professional presentation to an audience of varying size.
    • One (1) year safety committee experience.
    • Certified Healthcare Safety Professional certification required within eighteen (18) months of hire.
    • NIMS HICS 100, 200 and 700 on-line certificates obtained within six (6) months of hire.
    • (40) Hour HAZWOPER certification preferred or obtained within 3 months of hire.
    • Must possess a current and valid Oregon driver's license with a good driving record.
    • Working knowledge of The Joint Commission hospital accreditation process, specifically in the Environment of Care (EOC) preferred.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft business products (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
