Position Description:

The University of Iowa's College of Dentistry is conducting a search for the Department Executive Officer, Operative Dentistry. This is a full-time clinical or tenure-track faculty position at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level.

Major responsibilities include:





  • provide strong leadership and guidance for the department;
  • mentor faculty and students;
  • support faculty recruitment and retention strategies;
  • offer faculty development opportunities;
  • collaborate effectively with collegiate administration, faculty, and staff;
  • teach at both graduate and pre-doctoral levels;
  • participate actively in the department's faculty practice; and
  • guide and conduct research and research programs.




Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.



Education Requirement:


  • DDS/DMD degree or equivalent;
  • Certificate or Master's degree in Operative Dentistry or related field;


Required Qualifications:


  • substantial record of scholarship, including a history of research funding and scholarly publications;
  • evidence of current relevant teaching experience; and
  • professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.


Desirable Qualifications:


  • relevant leadership/administrative experience;
  • extensive clinical experience;
  • active research program;
  • documented experience and/or expertise in esthetics and CAD/CAM technology; and
  • evidence of collaborative academic achievement.
