Primary Function: In cooperation with the faculty, program directors, and navigators in Perkins-Funded programs, develop and implement career readiness opportunities for students in these majors, create a set of activities for students in Perkins-Funded majors that will enhance their career exploration, and promote experiential opportunities in preparation for employment or transfer. Special emphasis will be placed on working with disadvantaged, minority, and non-traditional students.

Responsibilities: (1) Assists, supports, and coaches current and prospective students on career readiness in preparation for employment in regional high priority occupations. (2) Provides referral to Transfer Advisor for students seeking an advanced degree. (3) Provides referral to Learning Center, Financial Aid, Counseling, and other student resources to address financial, academic, or personal barriers to success. (4) Develops strong working relationships with faculty to identify students in need of career coaching or exploration as well as partnering on classroom presentations and career programming. (5) Develops and implements career exploration activities for middle and secondary school students that focus on regional high priority occupations and the Perkins funded programs that train for these occupations. (6) Works closely with the appropriate offices to build relationships with Career and Technical Education (CTE) high schools, middle and secondary schools, non-profit groups, community organizations, and small businesses for the purpose of developing articulations, work experiences and job opportunities. Engage with community organizations to develop opportunities for underserved and non-traditional populations to increase their participation in career related programming and exploration. (7) Markets career related programming and experiential learning opportunities to students, faculty and staff in Perkins-funded programs to which assigned. (8) Identifies students eligible for community social services organization internship funded through the Federal Work Study Program and guide students through resources to fill out FASFA if needed. (9) Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications: (1) Education: (a) attainment of bachelor's degree preferred in an appropriate discipline from a Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) approved Institutional Accreditor college or equivalent knowledge and experience in the area of career development, student advising, and local labor market development. (2) Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: (a) knowledge of local labor market; (b) knowledge of employment needs, basic job training requirements, and changing trends in the employment field; (c) ability to function effectively as a member of an administrative team; (d) ability to organize and work effectively with large and small groups; (e) ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and employers; (f) ability to adapt to differences and changes in program, colleagues, students, and community characteristics, (g) ability to work with students on employability and job search skills; (h) excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational and presentation skills; (i) ability to work with and relate to community constituencies; (j) demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology; (k) ability to work with diverse populations. (3) Experience: (a) two to five years' experience in advising, placement, or career development (b) demonstrated competency to serve in an administrative capacity.
