Position Summary
The Associate Director of Admission's main objective is to recruit students and follow through with the admissions process until students' matriculate. This position evaluates students' academic credentials and makes decisions regarding the individuals' admissibility to the University according to current admissions criteria and the University of North Carolina system requirements. This position has the authority to bind the institution to admissions decisions.
The Associate Director of Admission also works with the Director of Admission to implement and maintain marketing and communication strategies designed to recruit UNC Asheville students from all territories and geo-markets in North Carolina as well as key out-of-state markets. The Associate Director implements seamless communication campaigns. The Associate Director of Admission will also work to monitor analytics to determine if target markets are engaging as intended and tracks ROI on all communication initiatives.
The Associate Director will serve as the primary ADMFA liaison to the Communication & Marketing department and provides them with the necessary input to develop recruitment publications (for the purposes of travel and mailings); website and social media content; and digital marketing content each cycle. The Associate Director is responsible for ensuring that all ADMFA communications and media production are aligned with the University's brand platform and strategic plan.
FLSA Exempt
Required Education/Experience/Skills
Master's degree from an appropriately accredited institution. May also consider a Bachelor's degree and three or more years of experience in communication, sales, higher education and/or marketing.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills

  • Master's Degree in strategic communications or related field and 3 or more years of admission and/or enrollment communications experience.
  • Experience with using web-based Content Management Systems
  • Supervisory experience, particularly of college students
  • Experience with student information systems
  • Advanced understanding of admission application policies and procedures
  • Extensive experience with marketing data analysis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Preference is given to candidates who have the following:

  • Experience in developing and implementing communication campaigns using a CRM
  • Flexible, adaptable, committed and energetic
  • Well-developed team-working skills
  • Strong public relations skills; demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication
  • Computer competency
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with campus personnel and outstanding organizational skills.
