Working under direct supervision of the Director, Network Services, selecting from a variety of established procedures to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities, the Switchboard Operator ensures timely and professional responses to incoming calls at the Company’s PBX switchboard console. The Switchboard Operator supports various administrative processes including but not limited to special projects requiring understanding of Microsoft Office Products, such as Excel and Word, filing bills, assignment of accounts for the Sales Organization, maintenance of account managers in system directories and updating customer catalog subscription changes, along with any additional assigned work.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures timely and professional responses to incoming switchboard calls; serves as first point of contact for current and potential customers, which may require validation of company size, then transfers calls to the appropriate party utilizing directories and systems to determine correct recipient of the call.
  • Supports various administrative processes for the Voice and Data Network organization, and sales personnel including but not limited to assignment of accounts, maintenance of account managers in system directories and updating customer catalog subscription changes, filing of bills, other projects such as testing phone numbers, and working with Microsoft Excel or Word documents.
  • Performs all other duties or special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer knowledge with ability to operate keyboard for data entry.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with ability to create a document or simple spreadsheet.
  • Attention to detail in composing, keying, and ensuring customer call is transferred accurately.
  • Customer oriented with ability to listen to and anticipate needs of the customer.
  • Adaptable with ability to switch tasks based on shifting priorities.
  • Articulate with ability to express oneself clearly and professionally in written and oral communication.
  • Creative with ability to develop original solutions to problems.
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
  • Perceptive with ability to understand the needs and values of others.
  • Good listening skills with ability to receive information completely and understand what is being said.



Up to $20.00 an hour. 8:30 to 5:30pm EST
