Job Description
The Director IT - Application Services will lead, supervise, and mentor a team of application administrators, database administrators, and developers. This role involves supporting and developing the team's technical knowledge and professional growth through daily communication and regular performance reviews. As a senior technical and planning advisor to the CIO and other divisional leaders, the Director will play a key role in executing the university's strategic vision and priorities. Additionally, this position is part of the Information Technology Services leadership team, contributing to organizational design, strategic planning, policy creation, and the development and rollout of process methodologies. The Director will foster a customer-focused and responsive team that encourages individual initiative, collaboration, and innovation, while maintaining a balanced focus between operational excellence and transformational change. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, effective verbal and written communication, strong planning and organizational abilities, and the capacity to work strategically as a team to achieve common goals, all while upholding a high standard of professionalism. Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead and manage a team of technical leads and IT professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and continuous learning. Provide clear direction and support for team members, ensuring that goals are defined and consistently achieved.
- Strategic & Operational Execution: Work with the CIO to execute the university's IT strategy and business plans. Contribute to the development of functional strategies and ensure alignment with overall institutional goals. Oversee the delivery of IT services, projects, and operational activities across the department.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison between IT and other departments within the university. Build strong relationships with faculty, staff, and leadership to ensure IT is effectively supporting academic and administrative functions.
- Project Management & Process Improvement: Oversee and direct key IT projects, ensuring that they are delivered successfully. Identify opportunities to improve IT systems, processes, and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Accountability & Reporting: Monitor and report on IT performance metrics, ensuring that service delivery meets organizational standards and user satisfaction. Provide regular updates to the CIO on operational outcomes, risks, and areas for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience, or a Master's degree and 8+ years of experience, or a Doctorate and 6+ years of experience.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in a management or leadership role, with proven success in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.

- Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with various university departments.
- High quality written and verbal communication

- Broad and comprehensive knowledge of IT systems, theories, and practices.
- Capability to adapt to ever-changing priorities
- Detailed understanding of software development cycle
- Ability to build a culture which balances security, privacy, and access
- Strong background of application implementation
Anticipated Hiring Range
Pay commensurate with education and experience. Hiring Range: $110,000 - $130,000 Annual Grade: GGS-014 University Title: Director IT Internal applicants can determine their university title by accessing the Talent Profile tile in myHR.
