The Infrastructure and Architecture Engineering Services group seeks a multifaceted and motivated Lab Services Manager to join us in leading a group of engineering talent focused on supporting computing in a laboratory setting. The job will apply and build on your skills working in a scientific research and development environment helping bench scientists make the most of a variety of different experimental instrumentation.

The Opportunity:

As a foundational part of laboratory data acquisition, your team will ensure experimental data is collected, moved and processed in an automated, robust and performant manner from a broad range of scientific modalities and instrumentation.

  • You are leading an engineering team, recruiting and hiring talent, supporting their professional careers and goals while clearing obstacles and ensuring delivery

  • You are partnering with scientists and laboratory managers to identify needs, prioritize projects and deliver solutions

  • You collaborate with your peers and colleagues in gRED Computational Sciences to incorporate existing solutions, explore new technologies and deliver innovative solutions

  • You recruit and lead consultants and contractors to augment your team for specific projects, scaling your impact based on business needs and resourcing requirements

  • Work within a budget, including forecasting project costs, securing sponsorship and funding from customers and meeting annual financial targets

Who You Are:

  • BS/MS in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field with equivalent experience

  • 8+ years of experience in working an academic or life sciences setting

  • 4+ years of experience recruiting, hiring and managing engineering professionals

  • Familiarity with a range of laboratory techniques and their associated instrumentation and workflows

  • Consistent track record of project delivery including strategy, design, planning and implementation

Successful Candidates Will Meet Many of the Following Requirements:

  • Have worked as a bench scientist using advanced experimental techniques & instrumentation

  • Supported laboratory instrumentation including high throughput screening methods

  • You have an engineering background, with skills in data acquisition and AWS cloud computing

  • You have worked with AI/ML methods in a pharma/biotech research & development setting

Relocation benefits are not available for this posting.

Onsite presence, on our South San Francisco campus, is expected for at least 3 days a week.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $150,200 - $279,000 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
