THE POSITION

Washington County's Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) is excited to welcome a new Client Services Technician I to join their team!

The Department
The Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) has an exciting opportunity for you to apply your technical skills in customer service, supporting internal operations with the support and maintenance of computer hardware and software. As a Client Services Support Technician, you will deliver a variety of technical services, with a focus on building and deploying endpoints, providing backup Audio/Visual support, and supporting client hardware and software across the County.

The Position
The Client Services Support Technician provides a variety of specialized services related to the operation and maintenance of our networked computer hardware and installed applications. In this role, you will install, maintain, and troubleshoot operational issues for County employees on all supported hardware and software. This position's primary focus will be on the imaging and building of Windows based computers, deployment of endpoints, audio/visual support and providing occasional phone support.

Duties assigned to this position may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Imaging systems for deployment/upgrade following standard script and automated procedures.
  • Installation of Windows-based software as needed.
  • Provide post-migration support and resolve issues as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous software & hardware installs. Configuration of Windows computers.
  • Responsible for industry standard disk wiping and disposal of secure data.
  • Participate in the tracking and updating of asset data, including hardware disposal.
  • Assist the Client Services team with the deployment of hardware to include computers, monitors, and peripherals on an as needed basis.
  • Provide backup audio-visual support for County meetings. (Board of Commissioners, Planning Commission, etc.)
  • Provide backup telephone support coverage for our Service Desk when required.

Job Requirements:
  • Customer-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent problem-solving and multitasking skills.
  • Proven work experience as a Desktop Support Technician.
  • Experience with post migration user support.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Operating Systems.
  • Working knowledge of office automation products and computer peripherals.
  • Knowledge of network security practices and intrusion detection programs.
  • Understanding of Operating System Deployment and Migrations.
  • Previous audio-visual (AV) support is a plus.
  • A+ or similar certification is preferred.

The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will possess a general understanding of computer and audio/visual support, along with excellent customer service and problem-solving skills. Strong time management and organizational abilities are essential, as this role requires independently prioritizing work and effectively multitasking. The ideal candidate should have experience imaging computer systems in a large enterprise setting. Additionally, we seek an applicant who can represent ITS by assisting with computer equipment moves for County departments and supporting audio/visual services for executive (board-level) meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • One (1) year or 45 credits of college-level coursework in computer science or a closely related field, and one (1) year of experience providing computer hardware and software supportOR
  • Two (2) years of experience providing computer hardware and software support (applicable certifications may substitute for the education and experience requirements).

Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities, and Specialty Requirements

  • Some positions may require that incumbents pass an extensive background check.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

  1. Apply today! In lieu of a resume, you are required to complete and submit an online application, which will be used to screen for minimum qualifications (MQs) and to determine starting pay in accordance with the provision of the Oregon Equal Pay Act.
  2. Minimum Qualification Review: HR will screen applications for MQs after the posting closes. This process will begin after March 30th, 2025.
  3. SME Review: Depending on the number of applicants that meet MQs, a SME review will be performed of which is an in-depth evaluation of your application materials, including your responses to the supplemental questions. This process will begin after April 6th, 2025.
  4. Panel Interview(s): Panel interviews will be scheduled for the top candidates who successfully pass the SME Review as soon as possible.
  5. Conditional Offer of Appointment: Human Resources will conduct a salary analysis for the successful candidate(s) and extend an offer of appointment.
  6. Post-Offer Check: The successful candidate will undergo background and driving record checks.
  7. Start Date: A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met.
