Job Summary:

LCG's Growth Team is seeking an experienced System Engineer, Associate. The Systems Engineer, Associate will be responsible for coordinating and performing additions and changes to network hardware, operating systems, and attached devices. Responsibilities include investigating, analyzing, recommending, configuring, installing, and testing network hardware and software. The engineer will provide direct support in the day-to-day operations of network hardware and operating systems, evaluating system utilization, monitoring response times, and detecting and correcting operational problems. The role also includes troubleshooting at both physical and logical levels, working with communication protocols, maintaining network infrastructure standards, and providing technical consultation, training, and support to IT staff.

The client has a cloud environment built in AWS, O365, and Equinix, as well as other SaaS solutions. The Systems Engineer, Associate will provide support services for information systems hosted across these various cloud service providers and SaaS offerings. Responsibilities will include supporting the development and deployment of integrated information systems, ensuring the integration of systems across multiple CSPs, and enforcing operational standards to ensure high-quality information systems that align with federal mandates and best practices. The role will focus on uniformity and automation across enterprise IT environments, ensuring consistency, repeatability, and interchangeability of technical solutions and operational standards.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:



  • Leverage engineering best practices for the design, administration, installation, and support of systems, servers, software, and security.





  • Maintain Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) images by deploying updates, troubleshooting issues, and automating deployment processes.





  • Provide remote troubleshooting and resolution for infrastructure-related issues.





  • Install, configure, and support Windows applications on Windows 7 and 10 desktop systems (both virtual and physical).





  • Strategize and execute periodic patching activities, including vulnerability remediation using WSUS & SCCM.





  • Design and implement architecture solutions addressing functional and performance requirements across applications, middleware, data, infrastructure, network, and security layers.





  • Support system integration projects within a FedRAMP-approved environment, ensuring compliance with Treasury, NIST, and other federal mandates.





  • Engineer, build, configure, and maintain Windows, Linux, Hadoop, HPC, virtualization, storage, and network systems, ensuring secure and highly available IT solutions.





  • Conduct engineering design reviews, deploy new hardware and software, and document operational procedures for IT operations.





  • Support integration testing, transition, acceptance, and training phases from engineering to production.





  • Administer Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, and SCCM for automated application packaging and deployment.





  • Perform Active Directory administration, develop Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and manage system security settings.



  • Support and enhance legacy infrastructure, including task automation, monitoring, continuous integration, deployment, and performance tuning.



  • Establish and manage system engineering processes to ensure seamless integration and improved service delivery.



  • Develop systems engineering planning documents and evaluate/test commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software and hardware products.



  • Perform project management and systems engineering and integration (SE&I) tasks for OFR systems, ensuring successful system development and deployment.




Qualifications



  • Minimum 5 years of IT experience in systems engineering and administration.





  • Preferred Certifications: Microsoft certification, VMware certification.





  • Experience supporting cloud environments (AWS, O365, Equinix) and SaaS solutions.





  • Strong background in application deployment automation (App-V, VMware ThinApp, Citrix Streaming, etc.).





  • Experience in Windows PowerShell scripting for automation.





  • Hands-on experience with server technologies and Tier-2/3 support.





  • Experience with the following technologies:





  • VMware vSphere





  • Citrix XenDesktop & Citrix XenApp





  • SCCM





  • Windows 7 and 10 OS





  • Dell Data Protection Encryption Enterprise Edition





  • Thin and zero client deployments (Dell Wyse)





  • Experience with Windows 7 to Windows 10 upgrades and support.





  • Expertise in Active Directory Group Policy management and general administration.





  • Experience with systems integration, including Linux, Windows, Hadoop, HPC, and data-intensive applications.





  • Familiarity with security tools such as Okta, Zscaler, Palo Alto firewalls, Splunk, FireEye, Mandiant, and Ivanti/MobileIron.





  • Strong documentation skills, including the development of system diagrams, operational manuals, and SOPs.





  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills



Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $100,145 to $129,222.50 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The target salary is $113,885.00. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
