Safety Health & Environmental Specialist

ChampionX, has an immediate need for an Safety Health & Environmental Specialist II located in Sugar Land, TX at our Chemical Plant. This is your opportunity to join a large growing company offering a competitive base salary and benefits.

What You Will Do:

  • Drive Goal Zero culture and initiatives.

  • Identify, evaluate, and control chemical, physical, and biological hazards. Conduct PPE and JSA assessments, evaluate PPE compatibility, and review procedures.

  • Develop and manage safety programs, including training, emergency response, and incident investigation. Update CBT and classroom training, and transition to new Corporate Observation formats.

  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, and self-audits to ensure compliance.

  • Investigate workplace accidents, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions. Develop Safety Alerts and Investigations presentations.

  • Apply process safety management principles to chemical processes.

  • Collect, analyze, and report safety data. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, Maximo, Intelex, KPA, Velocity, etc.

  • Conduct IH monitoring, update respiratory protection PPE matrix, perform lighting evaluations, and reassess building ventilation.

  • Requires the ability to exercise independent judgment and employ basic reasoning skills.

  • Other duties as required.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all matters.

  • Partners with employees, management and Front Line Leadership.

Preferred Qualifications: Role is deemed safety sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing.

  • 5 + years of experience in a manufacturing supply chain environment

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

  • Previous leadership and/or training experience

  • Incident investigation experience with focus on Root Cause Analysis (I.e., TapRoot, 5-Why).

  • Experience with TPM, Lean Manufacturing

  • Knowledge of DOT requirements

  • Knowledge of ISO or other quality management systems

  • Work week and shift: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm (may vary). To be available on call for any emergency
