Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Carpenter in our Facilities Management Construction & Renovation Services group, which supports Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost-effective, and reliable carpentry and maintenance to the University community. The incumbent will be responsible for the remodeling of buildings, hanging doors and setting windows, cutting and framing openings. The Senior Carpenter performs interior and exterior trim work, shop repairs, as well as builds cabinets, worktables, bookcases, etc. The position repairs, installs and finishes millwork casework, or other products. Duties Include:
Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: A minimum of seven [7] years of experience in working in all aspects of carpentry methods, tools, and materials. Compensation: The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $27.50 - $31.50 per hour ($57,200 - $65,520 Annually). This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Physical Demands: The employee must be able to variously sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, lift, pull, and use both hands-on repetitive tasks (including overhead tasks). The employee must have normal vision and hearing (correctable), and for some areas of employment, color vision and sense of smell.
