Reliable Service Contractors is seeking a skilled and dedicated Commercial Kitchen Service Technician to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. The technician will be responsible for servicing and maintaining various types of commercial kitchen equipment, ensuring they are operating efficiently and safely. This position requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Service & Maintenance: Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, fryers, grills, speed ovens, walk-in coolers, and dishwashers.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify electrical and mechanical faults in kitchen equipment and carry out repairs in a timely manner.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients to explain issues, repairs, and maintenance needs.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Documentation: Complete detailed service reports, including repair work, parts used, and time spent on each job.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other technicians and the service department to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient operations.
  • On-call Support: Participate in the on-call rotation to respond to emergency service requests as needed.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in commercial kitchen equipment repair or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems in commercial kitchens.
  • Certifications: EPA certification (or willingness to obtain), other relevant industry certifications.
  • Tools: Must have personal hand tools; company will provide specialized equipment.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment efficiently under tight timelines.
  • Communication: Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to explain technical issues to clients.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various kitchen environments.
  • License/Transportation: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to client locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs for commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and refrigeration.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle emergencies.
