Job DescriptionThe Director, Digital Strategy & UX at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the institution's digital media strategy, website management, and customer journey optimization. This position plays a pivotal role in enhancing TSTC's online presence, ensuring a seamless digital experience for prospective students, and aligning digital initiatives with institutional goals.
Initially serving in a consultative capacity, the Director will analyze and improve digital engagement strategies, oversee external vendors responsible for website design, user experience (UX), and customer journey and experience (CX) mapping, and collaborate across departments to create a cohesive digital ecosystem. Over time, this role may transition into managing a team to implement and scale digital initiatives.
Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), the Director will work closely with Communications & Creative Services, enrollment, IT, and external partners to drive innovation, improve user engagement, and leverage digital tools to optimize student recruitment and retention efforts.

Salary Range: $88,678- $101,980.39
The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
Key Areas of Focus
Digital Strategy & Innovation - Develop and execute TSTC's digital roadmap to enhance engagement, enrollment, and student retention. Website & Platform Management - Ensure a seamless, accessible, and high-performing web experience that aligns with institutional goals. Customer Journey & Experience (CX) Optimization - Improve digital touchpoints, from inquiry to enrollment, using data-driven insights. Vendor & Partner Management - Oversee external agencies handling website design, UX, and CX strategy, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives. Performance Analytics & Optimization - Use analytics, user behavior analysis, and heatmaps to refine digital experiences and increase conversion rates.
Role Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Digital Media Oversight
Develop and implement a comprehensive digital strategy to enhance TSTC's online presence and engagement. Align digital initiatives with institutional goals, ensuring brand consistency and effective messaging. Act as a digital transformation consultant, identifying opportunities for improvement in digital marketing, website experience, and student engagement.
Website & Digital Experience Management
Oversee the strategy, design, and content of TSTC's website to ensure usability, accessibility, and alignment with user needs. Continuously optimize the website's structure, SEO, and conversion pathways to improve the prospective student journey. Ensure website content is up-to-date, relevant, and effectively communicates key messages to target audiences.
Customer Journey & Digital Experience Optimization
Analyze and refine the student journey across digital platforms to drive engagement, inquiries, and enrollment. Implement data-driven solutions to personalize and enhance the user experience (UX) for prospective students. Identify and leverage marketing automation, chatbots, and CRM tools to improve lead nurturing and conversion rates.
Vendor & Partner Management
Oversee external vendors and agencies responsible for website design, user experience (UX), and customer experience (CX) mapping to ensure quality and strategic alignment. Serve as the primary liaison between TSTC and external partners, ensuring deliverables meet expectations, timelines, and budget constraints. Evaluate vendor proposals, contracts, and performance to maximize ROI and the effectiveness of digital initiatives. Coordinate cross-functional input to guide vendor decisions and ensure alignment with institutional needs.
Data & Performance Analytics
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and use analytics to measure the effectiveness of digital initiatives. Utilize heatmaps and user behavior analysis to optimize digital experiences and improve engagement. Generate and present performance reports on website metrics, campaign success, and user behavior insights to leadership.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
Work closely with marketing, admissions, IT, and other departments to ensure a seamless digital experience. Act as an internal consultant, educating leadership on digital trends and best practices. If the role evolves, recruit, develop, and manage a team to execute digital initiatives at scale.
Technology & Compliance Management
Stay informed on the latest digital trends, tools, and best practices in higher education marketing. Ensure compliance with accessibility (ADA), data privacy (GDPR, CCPA), and cybersecurity standards. Manage relationships with external vendors, digital agencies, and technology partners as needed.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Digital Marketing, Communications, Business, Computer Science, UX Design, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. 5+ years of experience in digital strategy, website management, customer journey optimization, or a related field. Proven expertise in website strategy, UX/UI design, and digital engagement with a strong understanding of SEO, accessibility (ADA compliance), and content management systems (CMS). Experience managing digital customer journeys, including lead nurturing, marketing automation, and CRM integration. Strong data-driven mindset, with experience in digital analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar, SEMrush) to track and optimize performance. Demonstrated ability to manage vendors and external agencies for website design, UX research, and digital experience mapping. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including marketing, IT, and admissions to drive digital initiatives. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time based on business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field is a plus. Experience in higher education or student recruitment is highly desirable. Knowledge of customer experience (CX) strategies and tools for enhancing digital engagement. Familiarity with marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Pardot). Experience leading or building a digital team in a growing or evolving organization.
