Job DescriptionThe Associate Manager, Campus Marketing & Communications at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) is a strategic and hands-on role responsible for serving as the liaison between the CMO's office and the campus provost, ensuring that campus-specific marketing, public relations, and promotional efforts align with institutional goals.

This role is responsible for content creation, public relations, social media, multimedia production, event promotion, and media training while collaborating with TSTC's centralized marketing team, including graphic designers, content writers, and multimedia specialists. Additionally will prepare and train the campus provost and other key staff for media interviews, public relations opportunities, and crisis communications.

This role will take the lead in localized marketing efforts, ensuring that campus stories, events, and initiatives receive the attention they deserve.

Associate Manager, Campus Marketing & Communications must consistently demonstrate the TSTC Core Values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity as an essential component of the role and a standard of individual performance. Reports to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)'s office and works closely with the campus provost, faculty, students, and the central marketing team.

Salary Range: $57,542.40- $63,296.64

The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Key Areas of Focus
  • Campus Marketing Strategy - Serve as the liaison between the CMO's office and the campus provost, ensuring marketing efforts align with campus needs.

  • Public Relations & Storytelling - Write and publish press releases, news articles, and blog content about campus initiatives, student success, and faculty achievements.

  • Social Media & Digital Engagement - Develop and manage campus-specific social media content, ensuring brand consistency and audience engagement.

  • Event Promotion & Coordination - Support campus events and special occasions by developing marketing materials, coordinating promotions, and capturing event content.

  • Multimedia Content Creation - Capture and coordinate photos and videos, while working with TSTC's central photography and videography team for professional production.

  • Media Training & Crisis Communication - Prepare the campus provost and other key leaders for media interviews and train them on best practices for public speaking, media relations, and crisis response.

  • Collaboration with Marketing Experts - Work closely with TSTC's graphic designers, content writers, and multimedia professionals to produce high-quality marketing materials.

  • Future Leadership & Expansion - This role may transition into a leadership position, overseeing campus marketing coordinators across multiple TSTC locations.

Role Responsibilities Campus Marketing & Liaison Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary liaison between the CMO's office and the campus provost, ensuring alignment on marketing priorities, messaging, and promotional needs.

  • Work with campus leadership to identify marketing opportunities, ensuring effective promotion of events, student engagement initiatives, and institutional priorities.

  • Provide regular updates and reports to the CMO's office regarding campus marketing activities, media coverage, and promotional success.

Public Relations & Content Development
  • Research, write, and publish press releases, news articles, and blog posts to highlight campus achievements, events, and faculty/student success stories.

  • Ensure all campus-related PR materials align with TSTC's brand voice and messaging guidelines.

  • Collaborate with local media outlets to increase positive coverage of the campus in the community.

Social Media & Digital Content Creation
  • Develop engaging social media content, including photos, videos, event highlights, and real-time updates.

  • Partner with TSTC's central social media team to ensure content aligns with institutional branding and strategy.

  • Monitor social media engagement, respond to inquiries, and collaborate with the marketing team to enhance reach and engagement.

Event Promotion & Campus Engagement
  • Work with TSTC's design and content teams to create promotional materials for campus events, open houses, and student engagement initiatives.

  • Assist in event logistics, ensuring proper media coverage and marketing support for key campus occasions.

  • Coordinate with the provost's office and marketing team to develop targeted event marketing plans.

Photography, Videography & Multimedia Support
  • Capture high-quality photos and videos of students, faculty, staff, and campus events for use in marketing materials and social media.

  • Collaborate with TSTC's professional photography and videography team for high-end production needs.

  • Maintain an organized archive of campus marketing assets for easy access and future use.

Media Training & Crisis Communication
  • Train and prepare the campus provost and other key staff for media interviews, ensuring they are confident and aligned with institutional messaging.

  • Provide guidance on public speaking, interview techniques, and handling media inquiries, both for positive PR opportunities and crisis situations.

  • Work with the CMO's office and public relations team to develop and implement crisis communication strategies for the campus.

  • Act as a point of contact for media relations at the campus level, coordinating interviews, press opportunities, and media responses.

Collaboration with Marketing & Creative Teams
  • Work closely with TSTC's in-house designers, writers, and multimedia specialists to develop high-quality marketing materials.

  • Provide campus-specific insights to help shape broader marketing campaigns and digital content strategies.

  • Ensure all campus marketing efforts align with institutional branding and messaging guidelines.

Future Leadership & Growth
  • As the role evolves, take on leadership responsibilities by mentoring and supporting similar roles at other campuses.

  • Develop standardized processes, best practices, and marketing strategies to ensure consistency across multiple campus locations.

  • Strong storytelling and writing skills for PR articles, digital content, and marketing materials.

  • Social media expertise, including content creation, engagement strategies, and analytics.

  • Basic photography and videography skills, with the ability to work with professional media teams when needed.

  • Project and time management skills to handle multiple marketing initiatives efficiently.

  • Collaboration and communication skills to serve as a liaison between the campus and the CMO's office.

  • Public speaking and media training experience to coach campus leaders in interview readiness.

  • Understanding of crisis communication strategies and best practices for handling media relations in sensitive situations.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, public relations, social media management, or digital content creation.

  • Proven ability to write and publish PR articles, social media content, and marketing materials.

  • Experience managing social media accounts, engagement strategies, and audience growth.

  • Basic photography and videography experience, with an ability to coordinate with professional media teams.

  • Experience in media training, public speaking coaching, or crisis communication strategies.

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills for working across departments and with external stakeholders.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education, student engagement, or event marketing.

  • Knowledge of graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) for creating promotional materials.

  • Familiarity with media relations, press outreach, and community engagement.

  • Experience in leading or mentoring marketing professionals, with a desire to transition into a leadership role.
