Overview

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Junior Sustainment Test and Evaluation Engineer to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. You will join the MILSATCOM Systems Engineering team to help define the next generation of space communication systems supporting US Space Force (USSF) Military Satellite Communications. You will support Systems Engineering & Integration activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. You will interface and collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians and members of the USSF.

Responsibilities

As a Junior Sustainment Test and Evaluation Engineer with MTSI, you will support the MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort which provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Space Force's Space Systems Center (SSC). We support the Space Force's acquisition of state-of-the-art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation's warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:

  • Design, plan, coordinate, execute testing and provide terminal operations support on the Family of Beyond Line-of-Sight Terminals (FAB-T), Mission Planning Subsystem (MPSS), Air Force Command Post Terminal (AFCPT), Time Distribution Subsystem Pre Processor (TDSPP), Milstar Messaging System (MMS), Global Broadcast Service (GBS), Ground Multi-band Terminal (GMT), various other systems, subsystems and MILSATCOM devices.
  • Provide engineering and technician-level support for each of the above systems, including integration, communication circuit troubleshooting, and system-level anomaly resolution.
  • Identify and isolate software or hardware defects to evaluate/assess system modifications for shortfalls or interoperability issues and provide technical assessments to the client with regards to the modifications.
  • Author and deliver technical documentation including test plans, test procedures, system configuration diagrams, engineering studies, technical white papers, and test reports.
  • Travel: approximately 10%.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level up to 3 years of experience.
  • Ability to understand DoD/USAF test processes and documentation.
  • Ability to understand working with military or DoD civilian clients and managing professional relationships.
  • Ability to understand MILSATCOM equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of DoD mission system sustainment.
  • Must be a motivated, self-starter capable of autonomous on-the-job learning/improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written, verbal communications and presentation skills.

Qualifications Desired:

  • International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification or higher.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI), Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce technical Statements of Work (SOW), Bill of Materials.
  • Operational Test experience supporting a DoD Operational Test Agency or Organization Specific experience operating or maintaining the following: MPSS, FAB-T, AFCPT, TDSPP, MMS, GMT, GBS Receive Suites, cryptographic equipment (e.g., KIV-7M, ANDVT, KGV-11, KG-250), or related infrastructure and/or support equipment.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or equivalent technical discipline.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance is required for this position.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $70,000/year to $100,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract wages, job- related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
