Optum, a modern healthcare disruptor, is seeking a visionary Vice President of Digital Product to spearhead its digital transformation efforts. In this high-impact role, you will define and drive the strategy for Optum's next-generation digital products, bringing innovative, consumer-grade experiences to the healthcare industry. This role is pivotal in disruptive healthcare innovation - blending deep product expertise with Optum's mission to make health care simpler, more personalized, and more accessible. As VP, Digital Product, you will lead cross-functional teams in creating engaging, AI-powered, data-driven solutions that transform the way people find and manage their health, all while fostering a culture of innovation and customer-centricity.

Primary Responsibilities:




  • Lead Digital Product Strategy & Vision: Set the overarching product vision and roadmap for Optum's digital care portfolio, aligning initiatives with the company's digital transformation goals and business objectives
  • Innovative Product Development: Drive the end-to-end execution of digital product initiatives - from ideation to launch - focusing on consumer-centric designs. Leverage AI, machine learning, data analytics, and cloud technologies to develop products that anticipate user needs and deliver exceptional value
  • User Engagement & Personalization: Develop personalized, seamless user experiences across web and mobile platforms. Utilize modern UX/UI practices to maximize user engagement, retention, and satisfaction, making Optum's digital offerings as intuitive and compelling as the best consumer apps
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with engineering, design, clinical, and business teams to build and launch innovative healthcare solutions. Champion agile methodologies and ensure timely delivery of products that meet high quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Scaling & Growth: Scale digital products to reach broad adoption. Focus on growth metrics, customer acquisition and retention, and operational efficiency. Optimize platforms for performance and reliability, ensuring they can support millions of users and adapt to evolving needs
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Foster a data-driven culture within the product organization. Implement analytics and feedback loops to inform product decisions, refine features, and drive continuous improvement based on user behavior and outcomes
  • Stakeholder Influence: Act as a bridge between technology and healthcare stakeholders. Influence and align executives, partners, and teams across Optum and the broader UnitedHealth Group ecosystem to embrace the digital product vision. Communicate progress, insights, and value propositions effectively to ensure buy-in and support for key initiatives

Required Qualifications:




  • 10+ years in digital product management, with 5+ years serving in a senior leadership/executive role
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale product portfolios and organizations
  • Demonstrated success driving product innovation and user growth at scale
  • History of success leading the development of popular customer-facing products or platforms with high engagement
  • Expertise in building and scaling digital products from the ground up
  • Track record of launching innovative, customer-centric products that achieve wide adoption and high customer satisfaction
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with engineering teams and understand the technical implications of product decisions
  • Exceptional leadership skills in fast-paced, agile, and innovative environments
  • Experience hiring, mentoring, and managing high-performing product teams
  • Adept at cross-functional collaboration, bringing together design, engineering, data science, marketing, and operations to achieve shared goals
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Comfortable using data and user research to drive decisions
  • Ability to balance bold vision with practical execution, and to navigate the complexities of healthcare regulations and business processes
  • Genuine enthusiasm for leveraging technology to transform healthcare

Preferred Qualifications:




  • Experience at a leading consumer technology company (e.g., Amazon, Google, Meta)
  • Understanding of modern tech stacks and trends - including artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, mobile and web technologies, and data-driven personalization
  • Health Care delivery domain knowledge
  • Electronic Health Record experiences

The salary range for this role is $191,800 to $364,800 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
