Summary

The Supervisor is responsible for managing staff throughout the acute care system in one or more defined areas of organized patient care services. Supervisors provide direction to patient care staff to promote safe quality patient care, nursing services and a culture of safety on a continuous basis through established standards subscribed by the American Nurses Association and in accordance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act. The Supervisor performs responsibilities in five areas of nursing practice: clinician, teacher, researcher, leadership and professional development. Supervisors collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring consistent nursing standards guide the provision of nursing care while supporting the vision and mission of the organization. Supervisors contribute to the provision of quality nursing care through excellence in customer service and performance improvement techniques which demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.

Requirements

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) required. Masters degree in nursing or other healthcare field preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in Nursing Leadership.

Certification: Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Florida (required).

License: Certification in Nursing Administration or appropriate specialty preferred.

Other: Knowledge of current theoretical approaches to the delivery of nursing care. Ability to participate in developing and implementing organizational strategies to improve the delivery of care. Excellent leadership, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates fundamental knowledge of finances to support the development and management of the budget planCertification in Nursing Administration or appropriate specialty preferred.
