Vehicle Technician

Starting Rate:$33.26/hour

Your Future Role

As a Vehicle Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing the mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems of vehicles. You will be responsible for machining mechanical components critical for repairs and operating various equipment, including milling machines, lathes, and universal grinding machines. Your expertise will extend to cutting, fabricating, and welding, focusing on the repair and construction of machinery, transit equipment, tools, and specialized equipment. You will also oversee the fixing, overhauling, and testing of vehicle trucks, brakes, couplers, compressors, and more.

We'll look to you for:



  • Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on AirTrain vehicles and support equipment
  • Detailed troubleshooting and repairs for mechanical, electrical, or electronic issues
  • Interpreting maintenance manuals, blueprints, and schematics; preparing technical drawings for effective communication
  • Conducting tests and generating reports while recommending hardware and procedural improvements
  • Mentoring junior staff and ensuring quality work under your supervision
  • Addressing emergencies and equipment failures promptly, adhering to established protocols
  • Operating revenue service and support vehicles, ensuring full operational status
  • Participating in ongoing training to maintain expertise in maintenance techniques

  • Experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, especially within mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Flexibility in working hours and shifts as required
