Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Associate.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting independent basic science experimentation based on research conducted in the assigned laboratory under the mentorship of a senior scientist. Individual is expected to seek to build a portfolio of research accomplishments in preparation for acquiring a higher degree in biomedical research or medicine.
Job Responsibilities:
- After a period of time working in the laboratory, the candidate will be expected to train graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in experimental design, technique and performance.
- Participates in the editing and proofing of grant proposals, annual grant reports, and manuscripts for publication and recommends modifications to the Principal Investigator.
- Contributes to the preparation of articles on research outcomes and progress and to the submission of same for publication.
- Reads and understands relevant scientific literature.
- Presents findings at lab meeting, responds to challenges, and participates in exchanges of ideas to advance the science.
- Demonstrates a significant level of intellectual input into the design of the project.
- Communicates results and collaborates with other professionals in the lab.
- Prepares figures and diagrams for presentations and publications.
- Based on results, independently suggests and tests modifications to protocols.
- Records all experimental findings in a laboratory notebook, analyze and interpret experimental findings.
- Executes multiple experiments simultaneously over time independently.
- Generates hypotheses and designs and performs experiments to test them.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
RESEARCH DESCRIPTION:
Industry Sponsored clinical trial to evaluate the potential treatment and safety profile of PRISM, a neurofeedback training approach to treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in adolescents.
The candidate will spend a small amount of effort on lab management and organization, including ordering supplies, stocking reagents and maintaining lab databases.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
Completes training for use of PRISM research intervention for delivery to research subjects
Prepares and disseminates recruitment materials and designs, places advertisements / social media postings as needed
Conduct recruitment outreach. Responds to requests for information on potential subjects, including providing an explanation and additional information as needed
Manage clincard system for study, including establishing study account, initiating clincard for all subjects upon screening confirmation, inputting all incentives and travel reimbursement as required
Conducts subject screenings and consent interactions with subjects and guardians
Schedules screenings (subject and testing site scheduling), serve as the primary point of contact for study subjects related to subject participation and any travel costs
Coordinates travel via Lyft concierge as needed, or gather receipts from subjects for direct reimbursement
Conducts the treatment with individual subjects
Score assessment materials and enter data in study database, maintaining data integrity
Ensure all subject visits are logged in CRMS system and
Based on results, independently suggests and tests modifications to standard procedures for Adolescent subjects, as necessary works with Study Coordinator re Sponsor communications and IRB modifications.
Participate with other members of the study team and/or sponsor to solve any technical problems
Communicates results and collaborates with other professionals in the lab.
Presents findings at lab meetings, responds to challenges, and participates in exchanges of ideas to advance the science.
Reads and understands relevant scientific literature and as directed contributes to the preparation of articles on research outcomes and progress and to the submission of same for publication.
Reports to Principal Investigator (Richard Gallagher, PhD) with support from Project Coordinator and Study Administrator
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a College graduate with a B.S. or B.A. in Biomedical or Physical Sciences. A minimum commitment of two years is required and placement in position may not exceed three years.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $47,033.89 - $50,960.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
