Genesis10 is currently seeking a Sr. Systems Administrator Consultant with our client in the transportation industry in their Atlanta, GA location. This is a 12 + month contract position.

Seeking a Sr. Systems Administrator

Responsibilities:


  • Effective & efficient provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of server systems hardware and software and related infrastructure
  • Cover the adoption of processes and procedures guaranteeing the implementation of system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures that adheres with technology direction and policies
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts & groups per request
  • Grant and remove access to server and related resources
  • Investigate and troubleshoot minor issues
  • Provide Level 2 support per request from end users
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities
  • Configure/add new services as necessary
  • Upgrade and configure system software per project and/or operational needs
  • Maintain operational, config IT Governance of all site implementations, inventories, infrastructure planning, escorting, preventative maintenances and break/fix services for data center critical infrastructure, IT certification labs, and remote communication room critical environment equipment
  • IT support of IT Labs to align our client application and engineering teams with workstations, hardware and access to test their application
  • Remote coordination in partnership with professional services responsible for critical infrastructure maintenance and break-fix activities at remote communication rooms
  • Management, operation, maintenance, and monitoring of all critical facilities infrastructure for data center and remote communication room equipment
  • Development of data center and remote communication room standards for space, power, cooling, and physical layer IT infrastructure
  • Support IT Facilities Campus Fiber Ring to maintain the integrity and service continuity of the Atlanta Airport and Campus Facilities underground fiber ring
  • Recommend and implement departmental policy, guidelines, standards, and procedures
  • Assure compliance with all governing corporate standards and guidelines
  • Project management of data center and remote communication room standards capital improvements, upgrades, and enhancements S
  • Selection of IT and Critical Facilities services, ensuring accurate documentation, securing best prices for products and services, and ensuring that vendors fulfill their contractual obligation, or other procedures
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment
  • Prepares basic reports and presentations as requested or necessary within IT team
  • Engineer SA-related solutions for various minor projects and operational needs
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for sys admin tasks
  • Provide Level 3 support per request from end users
  • Investigate and troubleshoot complex issues
  • Repair/recover from hardware and software failures; coordinate and communicate with impacted end users
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
  • Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Prepare reports and presentations as requested or necessary within IT & minor customers
  • Engineer SA-related solutions for various complex projects and operational needs
  • Lead teams to provide advanced design, architecture and diagnostic support
  • Prepare reports /presentations as requested or necessary within IT and internal/external customers
  • Ensure proper capacity planning is in place
  • Ensure the effective and efficient system setup and operation
  • Ensure teams adhere to Chevron technology direction and policies
  • Drive the cultivation of OE culture within the team
  • Define end-to-end processes in support of OE
  • Embrace diverse people, thinking and styles
  • Consistently makes safety and security, of self and others, the priority
  • Build and maintain effective communication and relationships with management team, vendors, and peers
  • Provide proactive and break fix support for alarm/ticket remediation related to facilities, remote communication rooms, lab, and data center equipment
  • Adhere to data center design standards for space, power, cooling, and physical layer IT infrastructure
  • Organize projects with the goal to complete on schedule and within budget
  • Maintain documents, reports, and asset discrepancy remediation
  • Strict adherence to the Change Management window 10PM 6AM
  • Remote Coordination of FTO Critical Infrastructure Maintenance and Break-Fix activities
  • Provide remote installation, configuration and operational support
  • Submit equipment orders for inventory, campus & FTO projects.
  • Support CRE projects that relate to RCR Design/Build as IT Facilities Representatives.
  • Balance multiple priorities within established time constraints



Requirements:

  • Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) or UNIX, Linux equivalent certification
  • Certified in one of the following technologies: Exchange, OCS, Blackberry, Iron Port, Configuration Manager, ISA/Proxy, Storage (Legato, IPStor & SAN), NetGil/Citrix, SharePoint 2007, Anti-Virus, F5, SiteMinder, VMware, etc.
  • ITIL Certified for Support Services
  • High School diploma, GED or High School Equivalency
  • Knowledge of data center technology and critical facilities infrastructure
  • Data Center infrastructure project build-outs and planning for rack, stack, and cabling of IT hardware
  • IT hardware and network cabling adds, moves, changes, and retirements
  • Flexibility to support an operation with varying shifts, extended hours, and on-call requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills



Desired skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 2 plus years of relevant experience
  • Trade School Graduate
  • 2+ years' IT Support Experience within a high availability data center operating environment, day-to-day operational requirements, and the operation of production systems and equipment
