The Position

The Admissions Counselor is responsible for guiding prospective students through the admissions process, engaging with diverse student populations, and representing the college at various recruitment events. They must exhibit a passion for higher education, a commitment to student success, and the ability to build strong relationships with prospective students, families, and high school counselors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages recruitment efforts for assigned territories, including visiting high schools, attending college fairs, and organizing information sessions.
  • Develops relationships with prospective students, families, and high school guidance counselors to provide information about the college's programs, values, and campus life.
  • Reviews and evaluates applications for admission, including assessing academic records, essays, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation.
  • Conducts one-on-one interviews with prospective students and families to provide personalized guidance and insight into the application process.
  • Maintains accurate records of student interactions and application status in the admissions CRM database.
  • Participates in regular team meetings and contributes to admissions planning.
  • Assists with virtual and in-person admissions events (e.g., information sessions, interviews, tours) to engage prospective students and their families.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Six months to one year of experience in student recruitment, counseling or related field preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and empathetically with diverse populations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
