What you will do
Without direct supervision, and using established standards & procedures, the Project System Specialist will focus heavily on CAD to create precise and comprehensive fire alarm system designs and submittal packages that align seamlessly with project specifications. This role is crucial for providing detailed technical documents and drawings that effectively communicate design intent and operational requirements to customers, consultants, fire install/sales/management teams, and subcontractors.

How you will do it
* Organize and meticulously plan your own CAD workload while directing and mentoring less experienced design team members, ensuring efficient collaboration with other design teams as necessary.
* Facilitate thorough reviews of initial CAD designs of medium complexity, ensuring that value-engineered and code-compliant solutions are incorporated where required.
* Collaborate closely with CAD Support Technicians to produce fully detailed technical submissions, including comprehensive schematics and drawings that adhere to established design criteria and industry standards.
* Oversee the efforts of CAD Support Technicians in the preparation of project submissions for medium-complexity systems, ensuring all aspects of system operation, drawings, and calculations are accurately represented.
* Conduct detailed calculations and analyses to ensure that all system designs meet or exceed applicable codes and standard requirements.
* Actively participate in pre/post-project design meetings and attend customer/site coordination meetings when applicable, providing CAD insights and support.
* Develop and refine bills of materials based on CAD designs to facilitate effective construction processes and ensure resource availability.
* Thoroughly examine completed submissions alongside CAD Support Technicians for equipment application, ensuring compatibility and compliance with project specifications and scope.
* Provide strategic support to Project Managers upon receipt of orders, assisting in maintaining and improving project margins through effective CAD solutions.
* Review equipment application, conduct research on outside purchases, and ensure that all equipment selected is compatible from a CAD perspective.
* Respond promptly to inquiries from customers, contractors, and relevant authorities, focusing on CAD-related aspects of fire alarm systems as they arise.
* Collaborate with the Project Manager during system commissioning to verify that system performance aligns with the specified CAD designs and operational requirements.
* Support field technical staff and subcontractors by providing comprehensive CAD technical support and addressing design inquiries effectively.
* Offer pre-sales estimate support to the sales and project management teams, emphasizing the importance of accurate CAD details in proposals.
* Mentor and guide CAD Support Technicians in the completion of project deliverables, focusing on the accuracy and efficiency of CAD drawings and documentation.
* Perform CAD-related duties on assigned projects when necessary, stepping in as a CAD technician if one is unavailable to fulfill those responsibilities.
* Direct, support, and meticulously review the work products produced by CAD Support Technicians to ensure high-quality outputs.
* Continuously monitor actual hours worked to ensure all time is accurately coded to respective projects and remains within the originally estimated hours sold.

* Demonstrated knowledge of Government / Provincial Fire Alarm Code Requirements, ensuring compliance in all designs and submissions.
* Proven technical aptitude in Fire Alarm Systems with a thorough understanding of industry practices and standards.
