Key Responsibilities
- Social media oversight
- Execute a comprehensive digital communication strategy for social media that achieves high-impact creative solutions, strengthens the Mizzou brand and enhances alumni and donor engagement.
- Supervise Advancement's social media channels by managing the content calendar and developing original content.
- Monitor social media accounts, managing interactions and responding in a way that reflects the values and interests of the University of Missouri and the Mizzou Alumni Association.
- Paid social media campaigns:
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop and execute paid social advertising strategies for various initiatives.
- Implement media buys through social platforms or coordinate with media agencies to optimize ad placements and performance.
- Content strategy
- Assist in shaping content strategies that align with Advancement's objectives and maximize alumni and donor engagement.
- Stay informed on social media best practices, trends and platform updates to inform ongoing strategy.
- Performance analytics and reporting
- Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of digital communications projects.
- Use social media analytics and performance insights to refine and enhance ongoing content strategies.
- Digital content creation
- Produce engaging, high-quality native content for Advancement's social media channels to support fundraising and alumni engagement.
- Capture and share real-time event coverage and storytelling content across social platforms.
- Use both first- and third-party content to create engaging social media posts.
- Campus collaboration and social media partnerships
- Provide guidance to relevant student organizations developing social media content.
- Partner with social media managers across campus to coordinate and amplify campaigns.
- Collaborate with members of the Advancement Communications and Marketing team to provide best-practice consultation to the Office of Advancement, university communications and marketing team members, and internal and external stakeholders to plan, deliver and evaluate creative and effective donor and alumni communications.
- Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Expertise in crafting strategic content and targeted advertising that drives engagement and business results on social media platforms.
- Proficiency in business and communication software including Microsoft products, internet browsers and project management tools.
- Ability to tailor messaging and strategies for specific audiences while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- A strong appreciation for and ability to articulate philanthropy's significance in achieving the mission and vision of the Mizzou Alumni Association and the University of Missouri.
Shift
M-F 8am-5pm with travel for events will be required for this position. Some events may take place on the weekend or outside regular business hours.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience, or 5 years of experience in developing, implementing and evaluating digital communications as part of a creative agency or in-house communications team.
- Understanding of social media platforms and best practices.
- Experience developing and executing strategic social media plans and campaigns that align with organizational goals.
- Experience creating and curating content targeted to specific audience segments.
- Experience producing and editing video, photos and social media livestreams.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $22.00 - $26.00 hourly Grade: GGS-009 University Title: STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE II Internal applicants can determine their University title by accessing the Talent Profile tile in myHR.
