Title: Instrument and Electrical Reliability Engineer

Focus: The I&E Reliability Engineer is responsible for increasing the reliability of the assigned production units as related to instrument and electrical systems by applying reliability principles, existing knowledge of equipment, and various reliability tools to identify solutions for the top reliability opportunities in the production unit. This role will collaborate with Maintenance Engineers (MEs), Production Engineers, Plant Operations personnel, Improvement Engineers, Site Daily Maintenance and Turnaround personnel, and others to accomplish this goal.

The Freeport site is the single largest chlor alkali complex in the world with more than 1,000 employees. The chemical products produced at our Freeport location include chlorine and caustic soda, vinyls, epoxies, chlorinated organics, aromatics, bleach, hydrogen, and hydrochloric acid.

I&E Reliability Engineer Essential Job Functions:

  • Decrease equipment failure losses related to I&E issues to meet the operational reliability and asset utilization goals for the production unit.
  • Develop and lead implementation of a customized I&E reliability plan for each of the assigned production units, updated annually.
  • Develop Reliability Strategies for all high-risk and select medium-risk instrumentation and electrical technologies
  • Facilitate implementation and compliance with the Olin Asset Integrity Standard (OASIS)
  • Utilize Root Cause Analysis methodology to perform effective problem analysis and root cause elimination; evaluate solutions for leveraging across the company.
  • Act as technical SME for the Electrical Technology Services (IETS) team.
  • Help coach, develop, and mentor local Maintenance Engineers, Instrument/Electrical/Analyzer Technicians and Technologists.
  • Lead projects and engage with stakeholders to influence outcomes/champion new reliability tools; provide technical expertise for business-critical instrumentation and electrical systems and procedure development; support production unit turnarounds and capital projects.

I&E Reliability Engineer Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree* in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 5+ years maintenance/reliability engineering experience
  • Maintenance/reliability experience with most instrumentation and electrical technologies including but not limited to transmitters (level, pressure, flow, etc.), automated valves and other process and electrical control systems
  • Maintenance/reliability experience with high voltage equipment (transformers, rectiformers, rectifiers, motors, generators, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of project management and process control systems
  • Demonstrated experience in analysis of plant maintenance data such as repair history, cost of ownership analysis, failure rates, operating points, etc. required.
  • Experience and training related to SIS International and National Standards IEC 61511 & ANSI/ISA S84, NFPA Electrical codes and Company/Governmental operating and safety procedures preferred
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
