Key Position Details:

  • 0.2 FTE (16 hours per 2-week pay period)
  • 8-hour day shifts
  • Every other weekend

Job Description:

Provides patients with high quality respiratory care to facilitate recovery and/or healing as quickly as possible utilizing skills in teaching, communication and the science and art of respiratory care.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Performs all therapeutic functions of the Respiratory Therapist as stated in personnel and policy manuals.
    • Must complete competencies and perform modalities in clinical settings prior to performing therapeutic functions.
    • Exchanges information in a way that is accurate, meaningful and current.
    • Communicates with the Respiratory Therapist to verify plans of care.
  • Develops and Maintains an environment that is safe for patients, visitors and employees.
    • Protects patients, self and others from injury and accidents by maintaining a safe environment and using equipment properly.
    • Follows safety/security procedures for emergency and non-emergency situations to protect patient, self and environment.
    • Protects patient, self and others from injury during transfers, lifts, and transports by using proper equipment and body mechanics.
  • Uses communication techniques that reflect attention to the specific needs of the patient/family.
    • Adapts communication techniques to meet the specific needs of the patients/customers served.
    • Develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care based upon individual patient and family needs.
  • Documents all patient assessments, treatments and procedures.
    • Documents patient information to ensure accurate billing.
    • Assesses effectiveness of intervention and revises treatment plan appropriately.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate's or Vocational degree-Currently enrolled in an American Medical Association (AMA)accredited Respiratory Care program with successful completion of academics and clinicals for non-acute respiratory care patients or
  • Bachelor's degree-Currently enrolled in an AMA accredited Respiratory Care program with successful completion of academics and clinicals for non-acute respiratory care patients
  • Experience in health care

Licenses/Certifications

  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required
  • ACLS/BLS Tier 3 - Multisource preferred

Physical Demands

  • Medium Work*:
  • Lifting weight Up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), Up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $19.18 to $26.12 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
