Job Description

Successful candidate will become the SME for the Blending Process in 5 locations. As SME they will be looked to for assistance in Troubleshooting, Standardization, Definition, Improvement, and Operating Procedures. Equipment utilized in this process include PLCs, Scales, Blowers, Valves, PCs, and Feeders. Software utilized include Allen Bradley programming software, Wonderware, and Windows Server.

May be called upon to help Maintenance troubleshoot drives, PLCs, cards, and ethernet signals. Must be comfortable making decisions for how machinery must be specified and work with other engineers to drive to an efficient and effective processing environment through implementation, improvement, and developing new processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and drive machinery design and specification towards a standardized platform
  • Understand PLC based integration, communication, and control to implement, improve, and troubleshoot
  • Understand AVEVA Wonderware to improve, mistake proof, and upgrade.
  • Understand analog and digital Input/Output controls as well as integrating with drives, scales, pressure sensors, and valves
  • Design/direct/manage projects (as assigned) to include capital budget development, capital budget maintenance, and expense reduction projects
  • Coordination and checking of engineering deliverables, includes creating project engineering schedules and forecasts; Monthly project status reports and change orders
  • Requires extensive regular contact with assigned project clients or plants
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals
  • Participating in contractor meetings and resolving manufacturing/engineering and management project issues
  • Design/develop cost reduction projects, for plants and corporate, including follow-up and involvement from conception to completion
  • Using management skills, establish relationships with vendors to keep equipment updated and current with latest technology and improvements
  • Prepare data analytics as needed to understand process stability, opportunity for improvement, and lessons learned
  • Work to assure compliance with governmental rules, codes, standards, regulations, and with industry standards. (e.g. OSHA, EPA, RCRA, UST's, CERCLA, SARA, DOT, and other as applicable)
  • Develop programs and plans for long range needs of plants in line with corporate requirements and needs
  • Create presentations as needed or assigned to properly communicate process information
  • Develop process documentation to include Operating Procedures, Troubleshooting Guides, capability studies, equipment layouts, Pareto analysis, cost reduction studies, and others as assigned or appropriate
  • Assist R&D efforts to implement new processes into production for improvements and/or competitive advantage
  • Participate in corporate business unit (as applicable) and plant efforts to maintain safe and orderly work environments. Work with plant (or across business unit as appropriate) to foster and develop teamwork in our efforts to be productive and competitive
  • Assist plants and vendors with equipment design improvements and system integrations.
  • As appropriate or assigned, may assume environmental responsibility to include air permit, storm water permit, hazardous waste compliance and SARA, etc. and submission of required reports. Will also conduct related training as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related engineering or related discipline
  • Project Management, process technology/engineering or related discipline or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Five to eight years experience in engineering discipline in corporate and plant settings with a solid, demonstrated record of achievement
    • Relevant plant operations or technical experience will also be considered
    • Experience in plastics manufacturing preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects, managing time and prioritize work accordingly
  • Proficiency with personal computers, including Microsoft Suite
  • Knowledge of PLC and HMI programming including AB RSLogixs and Wonderware software preferred
  • Automation knowledge and experience highly desired
  • Heavy travel required 30%+
