Position Summary
STS Technical Services is hiring an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator in Melbourne, Florida. This contract role is responsible for driving the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs within the facility. The position ensures full compliance with environmental permits, laws, and regulations through inspections, audits, training, and program coordination.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations
- Conduct site inspections, audits, environmental sampling, and monitoring
- Maintain and update the Emergency Response Plan; ensure emergency preparedness across personnel
- Deliver EHS training programs, including OSHA and EPA-mandated training
- Maintain respiratory protection programs and coordinate medical surveillance requirements
- Develop and maintain records and reports for regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.)
- Support incident management, investigations, and hazard recognition efforts
- Conduct hazard assessments and report findings to management
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives in EHS processes and systems
- Coordinate compliance with all applicable SOPs and internal EHS procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of EHS
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma required
- Associate degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field preferred
Experience Requirements:
- 2+ years of EHS experience preferred
- Working knowledge of OSHA, TOSHA, and DOT regulations strongly preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong technical knowledge and sound judgment
- Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Working Conditions & Special Requirements
- Must adhere to all regulatory safety requirements (OSHA, EPA, state, and federal)
- Must be able to wear a respirator in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134
- Must be able to work flexible hours and multiple shifts if required
