Job Description: Job Title: Class A Driver
Transmission Type: Manual Vehicle Types: Modified F550: Used for specific tasks that don't require a Class A license but are part of the job. 2013 Manual Peterbilt: Main vehicle for larger deliveries. F2250: Used for smaller, local deliveries around town. Doubles and 48' Flatbed Trailer: Experience with these types of vehicles is essential. Responsibilities: Driving: Operate the specified vehicles safely and efficiently. Loading and Offloading: Responsible for loading and unloading materials, which may include heavy lifting. Building Pallets: Assemble pallets for transporting underground construction materials. Material Handling: Manage and transport underground construction materials, which can be heavy. Forklifts and other equipment are available, but manual handling is also required. Preferred Experience: Forklift Operation: Candidates with prior forklift experience are preferred. Certification is required, and the company will provide certification if necessary. Doubles and Flatbed Trailer: Experience with doubles and a 48' flatbed trailer is required. Additional Information: Manual Labor: The role involves both driving and manual labor, including loading, unloading, and building pallets. Team Environment: The branch is small, so employees often wear multiple hats and assist with various tasks. Current Driver Transition: The current driver is moving to a different position but will serve as a backup driver. Background Checks: Thorough background checks are conducted as part of the hiring process. Learning Opportunities: Due to the small size of the branch, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn and perform various jobs, gaining a broad range of skills and experience. Willingness to Learn: The ideal candidate should be willing to learn new tasks beyond driving, embracing the diverse responsibilities of the role. ** Must be 21 years or older!** All drivers must hold the required state-issued self-certification designation of non-excepted interstate and provide proof. All drivers must hold at a minimum a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License. All drivers must have at least one (1) year of driving the class of vehicles they will be driving while assigned to *** Enterprises, Inc. All drivers must have had a CDL for minimum of one year. In addition to the essential job functions described below, all associates will perform duties as requested by branch management. Assigned responsibilities and duties may vary based upon location size and operations. Job Functions: Deliver materials by the time scheduled by your supervisor. Validate directions. Unload or assist in unloading material as required. Ensure that material is properly secured and within weight limits. Ensure delivery of ticket with material and obtain customer signature. Communicate with your supervisor throughout the day. Pick up customer returns and validate that product matches request for credit. Pick up local-pickup purchase orders. Secure and return packing list(s). Verify all material has been unloaded and placed at the delivery site. Verify the customers signature on the delivery ticket. Print name next to signature if necessary. Review delivered orders with the supervisor for completion, accuracy, and format. Return all delivery ticket copies to warehouse and verify that none are missing. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and regulations. Fuel the truck as necessary. Report any vehicle problems, moving violations, accidents, and defects to the supervisor Compliance with company uniform policy. Assist in warehouse as necessary. Represent the company in a professional manner at all times ensuring quality customer service. Abide by all polices, rules, and regulations of the company including all applicable safety rules, regulations, and procedures. Support corporate programs, goals, and initiatives of the company. Work overtime as needed. Class A can operate any vehicle with a semi-trailer or trailer with two or more axles. This group also includes any combination of vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating greater than 26,001 pounds, provided that the gross vehicle weight rating of the towed vehicle is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
