Senior SME Consultant

This position requires an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered.

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen.

This position will be supporting DoD, OSD, and WHS. Expert in DoD strategy, resource planning, and policy execution. Skilled in conducting complex analyses, developing pragmatic solutions, and drafting executive-level decision documents. Adept at working with senior leaders across military and Executive Branch organizations. Strong knowledge of DoD operations, functional policies, and organizational dynamics. Proven ability to lead multi-faceted projects and align resources to achieve strategic goals. Holds a Master's degree and active Secret clearance.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Senior SME Consultant: $

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Senior SME Consultant Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide expert analysis and recommendations on DoD strategy formulation, resource planning, and execution.

  • Communicate and collaborate with senior executives across the DoD, Executive Branch agencies, and Military Departments.

  • Represent DoD policy positions to high-level government audiences with clarity and authority.

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement organizational responsibilities across functional areas.

  • Draft high-level decision documents for DoD senior leadership based on detailed enterprise analyses.

  • Support and manage complex, multi-faceted projects, aligning resources to strategic objectives.

  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of institutional environments and policy impacts.

  • Develop actionable plans based on complex problem-solving and pragmatic solutions.

  • Assist in planning and coordinating organizational priorities and objectives.

  • Analyze and propose improvements in key administrative areas including HR, budgeting, logistics, facilities, security, and contracting.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Senior SME Consultant Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Master's Degree or Equivalent.

  • Minimum of 20 years of experience with extensive knowledge of the DoD, OSD, and WHS.

  • Proven ability to conduct high-level analyses incorporating institutional, strategic, and political factors.

  • Demonstrated success in leading and supporting decision-making processes at the most senior levels of government.

  • Expert knowledge of DoD organizational structure, functions, and operations.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills tailored for senior government and military audiences.

  • Deep understanding of the missions and roles of OSD, the Joint Staff, Military Departments, and Defense Field Activities (DFAAs).

  • Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Strong leadership and project management capabilities.

  • Skilled in policy development, execution tracking, and interagency coordination.

  • Creative problem solver with an aptitude for developing innovative and practical solutions to senior management challenges.

  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
