JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State University seeks a Marketing, Communications, and Social Media Strategist to support branding, editorial content, and social media engagement within the Office of Educational Equity. This position will report to the Marketing and Communications Specialist and be responsible for reviewing, editing, and coordinating publications, managing social media strategies, and ensuring compliance with University marketing policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Educational Equity's Editorial Representative, ensuring adherence to Penn State's editorial and branding guidelines.

  • Develop and implement a social media strategy to enhance engagement and outreach.

  • Review, edit, and approve publications, newsletters, and promotional materials for internal and external distribution.

  • Assign University Brand Numbers (UBR) numbers and ensure compliance with university policies for all marketing materials.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Communications Specialist to ensure visual and editorial consistency across print, digital, and social media platforms.

  • Maintain and update content for the Educational Equity website and social media accounts in accordance with university standards.

  • Consult with leadership and colleagues across departments to develop effective messaging.

  • Establish and disseminate internal publication policies and guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.

  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in editing, marketing, social media management, or communications.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with social media analytics tools.

  • Strong writing and editing skills, with knowledge of Chicago editorial style preferred.

  • Experience managing social media platforms and digital engagement strategies.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education marketing, communications, and social media strategy.

  • Familiarity with Penn State's editorial and branding standards.

Salary Range:
