PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a Commissioning Electrical Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the electrical infrastructure supporting our energy, chemicals, and resources projects performs safely and efficiently from first energization through to operational readiness. This position supports our mission to be a recognized global leader in sustainability solutions by ensuring operational excellence and technical integrity during project commissioning.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate system performance against design intent, contributing to the safe delivery of critical infrastructure that supports society's evolving energy needs. Your expertise will help us maintain the viability of our customers' assets while guiding them toward more sustainable operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Execute the commissioning and initial energization of electrical systems across various voltage levels, ensuring compliance with engineering designs, technical standards, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary commissioning teams to align testing activities and resolve integration challenges across systems.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues related to electrical equipment with minimal guidance, escalating as appropriate to ensure timely resolution.
  • Interpret and apply testing protocols and procedures across a wide range of equipment, including MCCs, switchgear, motors, transformers, relay panels, and variable frequency drives.
  • Generate and manage Electrical RFIs to support documentation and communication of technical queries and solutions during commissioning.
  • Utilize completions software to document testing outcomes and ensure accurate and timely completion of commissioning records.
  • Contribute to a strong safety culture by identifying and mitigating electrical hazards, enforcing LOTO/LUN and permitting practices, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of electrical testing tools, procedures, and diagnostic equipment to validate system performance.
  • Participate in field inspections, technical walkthroughs, and quality reviews to support verification and turnover activities.
  • Maintain compliance with Worley's sustainability-aligned standards and customer-specific requirements throughout the commissioning phase.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSET



  • Certification aligned with ANSI/NETA ETT standards, Level 3 or higher in electrical testing.
  • Proven background in industrial commissioning or electrical maintenance, with practical field experience supporting startup activities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents including single-line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical layouts.
  • Familiarity with permitting, first energization procedures, and LOTO/LUN practices.
  • Technical expertise across a broad range of equipment, including but not limited to:


    • Low, medium, and high voltage MCCs and switchgear
    • Power distribution panels and circuits
    • Control and relay panels
    • Motors and starters of various voltage classes
    • Variable frequency drives
    • Transformers and ATS systems
    • Heat trace systems and controllers


  • Competency in electrical diagnostic and testing software and systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking capabilities with a commitment to resolving challenges efficiently and effectively.
  • NCCER Certified Plus (preferred).


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role requires the ability to perform physical activities that include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, and performing repetitive motions. The technician will work in a variety of industrial environments and must follow all site-specific safety protocols.
