Maintenance Worker-Summer Temporary Position (Housing & Residence Life)

The Office of Housing and Residence Life at UNCW employs a staff of students and temporary maintenance workers during the summer. The primary mission is to assist the full-time Maintenance Staff in performing routine maintenance work and are an important part of the day-to-day operations in the summer transitions process. A major area of responsibility emphasized is customer service. Please refer to the position description below for detailed information. Positions will start May 12 and end early/mid-August.

Position Responsibilities

* Perform routine maintenance work in residence halls, apartments, and suites which includes but is not limited to:

* Assist Maintenance Technicians with various remodeling and repair projects

* Communicate the status of jobs that are assigned daily as to the completeness of the task

* Present professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintain a high level of customer service

* Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Facility Operations and/or the Lead Maintenance Technician

Previous experience in one or more trades.

Must have a current/valid driver's license.

Please note, this is a temporary position. This position will start on May 12, 2025, and end in early/mid August. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
