Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The Office of Housing and Residence Life at
UNCW employs a staff of students and temporary maintenance workers during the summer. The primary mission is to assist the full-time Maintenance Staff in performing routine maintenance work and are an important part of the day-to-day operations in the summer transitions process. A major area of responsibility emphasized is customer service. Please refer to the position description below for detailed information.
Positions will start May 12 and end early/mid-August.
Position Responsibilities
* Perform routine maintenance work in residence halls, apartments, and suites which includes but is not limited to:
- Lifting/Moving Furniture
- Painting
- Drywall repair
- Ceiling tile replacement
- Power Washing
* Assist Maintenance Technicians with various remodeling and repair projects
* Communicate the status of jobs that are assigned daily as to the completeness of the task
* Present professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintain a high level of customer service
* Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Facility Operations and/or the Lead Maintenance Technician

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Excellent public relations and customer service skills
- Ability to work under time constraints with scheduled deadlines
- Maintenance or facilities experience is beneficial however not required

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience |
Previous experience in one or more trades. |
Required Certifications or Licensure |
Must have a current/valid driver's license. |

May 12, 2025, and end in early/mid August. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment.
