Job Title: Associate Scientist II

Location: St. Paul, MN 55117

Details:

The scientist will be responsible for acquiring and processing data for materials assessments, supporting other scientists and medical device project teams with development and operational support activities through the Science and Technology Materials Group lab located in Little Canada, Minnesota at the Woodridge location. The candidate will have experience in materials assessment technologies such as thermal analysis, microscopy, metallurgy, and failure analysis. Additionally, candidate will have experience in a dynamic team environment and have strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of medical devices is preferred. The candidate will have strong verbal, written, and organizational skills and be results oriented. The candidate will also have experience with documenting experiments in a highly regulated environment and knowledge of technical concepts and principals underlying Materials Science techniques.

- Successful candidate will have knowledge and technical experience in materials assessment techniques.

- Successful candidate should be able to work independently and with staff/principal scientists and engineers to support project teams meet their objectives.

- Successful candidate will have experience in the following:

o Surface analysis

Microscopy

SEM/EDS

FIB

Laser confocal microscopy

Vibrational spectroscopy

FTIR

Raman

Thermal Analysis

DSC

TGA

TMA

Rheological techniques

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Polymer Science or related degree; or equivalent work experience.

- 2-5 or more years of experience and/or post-secondary education in Materials Science and Engineering.

- Individual must communicate well with all levels of management and employees. Candidate must work well in collaborative environment across functional areas.

- Ability to collaborate and work as a team player

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute project tasks
