The Opportunity:

UCF IT seeks applications for a Software Systems Engineer II, Application Platform Administration. This Software Systems Engineer II position serves as the application platform administrator responsible for administration of multiple enterprise digital platforms that enable the campus community to build digital solutions at scale through data management, low code application development, automation, web hosting and form and workflow development. This role maintains and improves enterprise platforms and other systems performance by monitoring, analyzing, and troubleshooting issues; maintains release pipeline for changes and patch upgrades to systems to ensure availability, performance, and integrity of the system; reviews and administers the application platforms, including supportive mid-tier functions; installs, configures, and implements security best practices across all phases of the system architecture.

Responsibilities:



  • Develops, modifies, and/or configures complex software platforms and applications, and adapts new features of the systems.

  • Creates and maintains scripts to handle data transfers and automation of critical patch updates.

  • Contributes to complex projects changing platform, application, and/or infrastructure design and upgrades.

  • Monitors systems to prevent critical issues that may interrupt, or harm business functions and analyzes performance data for capacity planning improvements.

  • Performs maintenance, systems tests, refreshes, and security updates.

  • Resolves ticket requests, troubleshoots, and responds to technical issues.

  • Upgrades current systems to provide new features, deliver bug fixes, and secure environments.

  • Documents critical processes, system work, current architecture, service operation processes, etc. to ensure consistency and for training purposes.

  • Facilitates the provisioning and deprovisioning of platform and technology resources for the campus community.

  • Provides technical expertise and support for enterprise platform users and constituents in the campus community.

  • Researches new hardware, software, database, networking, and third-party applications.

  • Improves and updates technical documentation and standard operating procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.




Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical Skills and Experience:



  • Basic web development knowledge of languages and frameworks such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, WordPress, HTTPS, SOAP, SQL Connections and REST APIs.

  • Basic server administration knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.

  • Basic information security knowledge.

  • Basic knowledge of user experience (UX) design.

  • Basic knowledge of ITIL framework.

  • Ability to operate effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Ability to understand the needs of the business to help develop strategies for digital transformation.

  • Ability to think of new ideas to improve digital experiences.

  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to facilitate decision making among executive stakeholders.

  • Ability to ensure the highest levels of trust in data transparency, compliance, and security.




Special Instructions to the Applicants:

This is not a remote position. Up to 1-3 hybrid workdays per week may be available after a probationary period, depending on job duties, project work, and supervisor approval. Hybrid work arrangements are subject to university policy and may not be guaranteed.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518 to $72,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
