Mid-level Body Structure Engineer 
Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a passionateEngineer II for the MPV (Multi-purpose Vehicle)/Truck/Small Structures Team, who would assist in designing and developing components for the vehicle structures (i.e., body-in-white (BIW) upper body & underbody) of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles.  
What You Will Do: 
     
    - Design and develop body structure or frame components and systems for new vehicles, including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles, with a focus on lightweight, high-strength steel and aluminum materials
 - Conduct research and analysis to identify key design requirements and develop innovative solutions for electric vehicle platforms
 - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of body structure systems with other vehicle subsystems, including battery systems and electric powertrains
 - Support & interface with manufacturing teams and design studios for vehicle development
 - Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and validation reports
 - Study and interpret vehicle performance and test results (i.e., FMVSS, IIHS, NVH, R&H, Body Torsional Stiffness, etc.)
 - Create and manage a bill of materialswith updated weights at each stage of the vehicle development
 - Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers and team members
 - Participate in benchmarking activities to study structural strategies of competitive OEMs
 - Communicate and cooperate closely between North American affiliates and Korean headquarters
 - Travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally
 
     
       
      - South Korea: travel for early development
 - North American Plants:travel for pre-production build support
 
       
      
  
     
     
What You Will Bring to the Role: 
     
    - Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
 - Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
 - Good working knowledge of vehicle structure design, material properties, and assembly process
 - Good working knowledge of vehicle body or frame performance and NVH performance
 - Knowledge of mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering designs and processes
 - Knowledge of tooling design variables and processes, along with related material
 - Innovative thinking and proactive approaches to the technical direction of Structure components
 - Good communication skills to enhance cooperation with other teams
 - Familiarity with MS Office applications/programs to prepare reports/spreadsheets (as necessary to support project-related work)
 - Experience using computer-aided design tools
 
     
       
      - Capability in CATIA V5 is ideal, but not required
 
       
      
  - Experience using engineering tools to create and modify 2D and 3D drawings
 - Self-motivated drive to learn, do, and achieve more
 - Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
