The Senior Manager, Benefits Programs leads the strategy, administration, and delivery of the organization's employee and post-retirement benefit programs. This role ensures programs remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with the organization's goals. The incumbent manages a team of benefits professionals and serves as the primary liaison with external vendors and internal stakeholders, driving effective communication, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the administration of employee and retiree benefit programs, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and exceptional service.
- Evaluate and compare benefits offerings with market trends and peer institutions to maintain competitive positioning.
- Manage a team of benefits professionals, providing coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
- Oversee benefits communication strategies, including annual enrollment events and employee education efforts.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for benefits vendors, ensuring service-level agreements and performance standards are met.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure benefits programs are fully compliant with applicable laws and reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to benefits, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
- Collaborate with HR leadership to design, implement, and evaluate new benefits initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
- Analyze benefits data, report on key metrics, and identify opportunities for program improvements.
- Lead or participate in internal benefits committees and cross-functional initiatives.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 8 years of experience in benefits administration with progressive HR experience with experience in a management or supervisory role preferred.
- CBP, CEBS, PHR, or equivalent HR/benefits credentials preferred.
- Proficiency with HRIS and benefits platforms (e.g., Empower, Workday, Retirement Focus), Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across business functions and leadership levels.
- Strong project management capabilities and organizational skills

- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
- Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions.
