About the Job

Location: Fully Remote

Duration: One year with the possibility of extension

The fields intersecting neuroscience and society-spanning neuroethics, neurolaw, neuroarchitecture, neuromarketing, and beyond-are experiencing rapid growth. However, participation in these emerging disciplines remains demographically and geographically uneven. The Dana Foundation Career Network in Neuroscience & Society seeks to address this disparity by broadening participation, fostering community, and creating a more inclusive professional pipeline.

Reporting to and mentored by Dr. Francis Shen, JD, PhD, the Career Network Fellow will serve in a leadership capacity to design and implement innovative strategies that expand the field's reach, visibility, and impact. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the direction of a national initiative at the intersection of neuroscience, society, and equity.

Network Development & Engagement (25%)

  • Design and execute high-impact virtual and in-person convenings to cultivate cross- sector relationships and increase visibility of neuroscience and society careers.
  • Lead event strategy, including speaker engagement, stakeholder coordination, program development, and logistics management.
  • Foster sustained connections across disciplines through follow-up communications and collaborative opportunities.

Strategic Communications &Stakeholder Outreach (20%)

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to engage a diverse array of stakeholders, including academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and industry leaders.
  • Serve as a key liaison to external partners, proactively identifying and cultivating relationships that further the Network's mission.
  • Collaborate on development and donor engagement initiatives by drafting outreach materials and presenting Network goals to potential funders and partners.

Digital Strategy & Web Presence (10%)

  • Lead strategic planning for the Career Network's web platform, ensuring alignment with broader Foundation branding and messaging priorities.
  • Partner with IT and design teams to enhance website functionality, user experience, and accessibility.
  • Monitor and analyze website performance to continuously improve content relevance and impact.

Social Media & Campaign Management (20%)

  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive social media strategy to elevate the Career
  • Network's profile and drive engagement among target audiences.
  • Ensure all content reflects the values, tone, and strategic vision of the Dana Foundation.
  • Use data analytics to refine campaigns and report on social media impact.

Leadership & Team Mentorship (25%)

  • Co-lead a high-performing team of student research assistants, fostering an environment of collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
  • Set clear goals, provide structured feedback, and guide research efforts to align with strategic priorities.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for early-career professionals entering the neuroscience and society fields.
Qualifications

Required:

  • BA/BS degree plus at least four years of relevant experience

Preferred:

  • This is a full-time position. No part-time applicants will be considered for the Fellowship.
  • Applicants will ideally have completed a graduate degree, e.g. JD, PhD, MD, Masters

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $70,000 - $75,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
