An exciting and unique opportunity to establish a new fully dedicated Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting function at AITX, with a focus on scalable processes as our business grows. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of preparing timely and accurate financial reporting, a detailed understanding of US GAAP and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting, is responsible for executing the Company's consolidation and financial reporting processes and ensuring compliance with US GAAP. This position requires a strong understanding of financial accounting and technical accounting pronouncements, with a focus on providing accurate and timely financial statements for internal and external stakeholders. The role also involves oversight and leadership of the annual external audit process.

Job Duties

  • Financial Reporting & Consolidation:
    1. Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP for a number of entities across our portfolio of companies.
    2. Perform the monthly, quarterly and annual closing consolidation process.
    3. Develop and maintain effective consolidation and financial reporting processes and tools to drive efficiency and ensure accuracy.
  • Technical Accounting:
    1. Serve as the company's subject matter expert on complex accounting issues, including leases, revenue recognition, derivatives, and asset acquisitions.
    2. Monitor emerging topics in and upcoming changes to US GAAP and assess the impact to the Company. Facilitate the implementation of any new accounting standards as applicable.
    3. Provide technical accounting guidance throughout both the accounting and other functional areas of the business, driving understanding of complex accounting requirements across all levels of the organization.
  • Audit & Compliance:
    1. Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors.
    2. Coordinate and assist with the preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to audit inquiries.
    3. Establish and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting and ensure proper application of US GAAP accounting standards.

Experience

  • Experience:
    1. Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience. Mix of public/private accounting experience preferred.
    2. Prior experience in managing external audits and/or interacting with external auditors.
    3. Prior experience with complex accounting topics and the ability to interpret and apply new standards.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    1. Robust understanding of and ability to apply US GAAP.
    2. High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
    3. Ability to think critically and provide practical solutions to complex accounting issues.
    4. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate accounting guidance to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field.
  • CPA preferred.
