Job Description: Global Health and Safety Specialist Huntsman is seeking a Global Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist / Lead Investigator to strengthen our environmental, health, and safety programs worldwide. This role will be instrumental in driving environmentally responsible practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading complex incident investigations across global operations. You will partner with cross-functional teams to standardize HSE processes, enhance environmental performance, and implement sustainable safety solutions that align with Huntsman's commitment to protecting people, communities, and the environment. A key focus will be reducing environmental risks, ensuring safe chemical transport, and embedding environmental considerations into every stage of incident investigation and prevention. Key Responsibilities Standardization and Implementation
Lead global implementation of incident investigation systems, processes, and environmental controls. Ensure standardized environmental reporting and investigation processes, including integration with transportation safety policies. Collaborate with operations, logistics, supply chain, and EHS teams to develop environmentally sustainable chemical transportation safety practices. Deliver corporate reports on investigation findings, root cause analyses, and corrective environmental and safety actions.
Training and Development
Develop and lead environmental and incident investigation training, including root cause analysis methods, to promote high-quality investigations and a positive safety and environmental culture. Coach and mentor global investigative staff on best practices, with a strong emphasis on environmental risk reduction.
Regulatory Compliance and Support
Ensure compliance with environmental and occupational safety regulations across all regions (e.g., DOT, REACH, ADR, IMDG, CLP, IATA DGR). Support ESG-related initiatives, focusing on environmental performance improvement and sustainability targets. Maintain up-to-date emergency response and spill containment protocols for chemical transportation incidents.
Guidance and Strategic Insight
Provide technical guidance on environmental aspects of incident investigations. Build relationships with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and environmental authorities to anticipate and comply with emerging requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a closely related field with a clear environmental component. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., FEMA ICS, CSP, CIH) are a plus. 15+ years of experience in the petrochemical or industrial sectors with a strong focus on environmental protection and leading complex HSE investigations. Proven experience as a Lead Investigator using RCA methodologies such as Apollo, TapRoot, or equivalent, with a demonstrated ability to integrate environmental considerations into investigation outcomes. Deep knowledge of HSSE fundamentals, including environmental compliance programs and ISO standards (ISO 14001:2015 required, ISO 45001:2018 preferred). Experience in environmental audits, sustainability initiatives, and risk management methods (e.g., HAZOP). Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive environmentally responsible change.
Working Environment
24/7 availability to respond to environmental or safety emergencies globally. Periodic international travel for audits, training, and on-site incident support.
