The Cloud FinOps Analyst will apply FinOps practices and principles to Jack Henry's cloud spend across the three major public cloud providers (AWS, Azure and GCP). This position will do product-specific reviews with Operations, Engineering, and Cloud Infrastructure to identify opportunities for savings, as well as monitor daily cloud spend to ensure cloud costs stay in line with forecast. This position will also facilitate monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-term forecasting of cloud expenses across cloud providers.

This position will be hired to work remotely within the United States.

Travel of up to 5% may be required to attend JHA meetings, trainings, and/or professional conferences.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Analyze cloud usage and cost trends, identify cost drivers, and provide actionable recommendations for cost optimization.
  • Work closely with Cloud Architecture and Engineering teams to understand each product's cloud architecture strategy, and identify appropriate strategies for cost optimization.
  • Work closely with product owners to facilitate monthly forecasting, budgeting and long-term forecasting.
  • Maintain forecasts and alerting within public cloud consoles.
  • Monitor daily cloud spend. Identify and research anomalies that may create variances from forecast.
  • Create reporting and dashboards in PowerBI and/or Looker Studio to provide stakeholders with insight into monthly cloud expense, and cloud unit economics.

What you'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Finance, or related degree.
  • 6 years of experience in either FinOps, Cloud Architecture or Data Science.
  • Experience working with cloud billing consoles and cloud billing exports with at least one of the three major public cloud providers.

What would be nice for you to have:

  • Certification with at least one of the three major public cloud providers (AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, or GCP Cloud Digital
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and its elements such as Virtual Machines, Storage, Networking, Relational Databases, and other cloud services.
  • Understanding of cloud billing, cloud cost optimization strategies, and the application of reservations and committed use discounts.
  • Experience working with large datasets and business-intelligence applications (PowerBI, Looker Studio, or equivalent) in the development of data-driven models.
