Job Profile Summary This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Nutrition duties: Evaluates patients and helps them improve physical and mental conditions through treating nutritional difficulties, ranging from undernourishment to obesity. An organizational related support or service (administrative or clerical) role or a role that focuses on support of daily business activities (e.g., technical, clinical, non-clinical) operating in a "hands on" environment. The majority of time is spent in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. An experienced level role that requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and may require vocational or technical education. Works under moderate supervision, problems are typically of a routine nature, but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures, and communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation. Job Overview This role is responsible for the daily confirmation, preparation, labeling, storage, and distribution of modified infant formulas, breast milk, and donor breast milk. Preparation techniques must adhere to all sanitary regulations and standards. Job Description Minimum Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Six (6) months relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Associates Degree in Nutrition. 2. Dietetic Technician Certification. 3. Food Safety Training. 4. One (1) year of relevant experience. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. 1. Prepares infant formulas, breast milk, and donor breast milk in accordance with physician orders and dietitian's specific recipes by precisely measuring, weighing, mixing, and diluting a large variety of ingredients using aseptic techniques. 2. Divides prepared infant formulas/breast milk/donor breast milk into individual bottles as determined by feeding, labels bottles, and stores them until delivery. 3. Delivers prepared formula/breast milk to bedside refrigerators. 4. Maintains a sterile work environment through routine cleaning and sanitization of formula room and equipment. 5. Participates in quality control procedures, including but not limited to: maintaining refrigerator temperatures, recording formula batch lot numbers, monitoring formula expiratory dates, disposing and replacing expired formula, and completing temperature logs. 6. Alerts the dietitians to any potential problems regarding solution incompatibilities or shortages. 7. Inventories and orders appropriate supply of formulas. 8. Stocks supplies in patient care areas with ready-to-feed disposable formula according to predetermined standards and patient unit needs. 9. Maintains equipment in good working order and contacts appropriate personnel in a timely fashion in the event of equipment malfunction. Physical Requirements: 1. Able to walk, stand, or bend 95% of working day. 2. Works in a food preparation environment with some exposure to heat, cold, steam, and cleaning compounds. 3. Inpatient clinic patient care areas. Daily exposure to bodily substances Skills & Abilities: 1. Ability to follow instructions.
