We Require
Two years of experience performing inspection work in any of the following areas:
High school diploma or GED A combination of post-secondary education and/orjob-related experience may substitute for theminimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis Must possess or have the ability to obtain an American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) Traffic Control Supervisor certification within the probation period of one year from the hire date Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire

Associate's degree in Engineering or a closely related field and two years of inspection work experience Experience reviewing temporary traffic control plans and inspecting temporary traffic control setups Experience in survey roadway construction, material testing, and construction management Experience in construction and maintenance-related activities in public works projects One or more of the following professional certifications:

Job Contributions
Inspect various maintenance and construction projects that can include any structure or asset within the MCDOT right of way in the process of construction, alteration, or repair for compliance with safety regulations, traffic control requirements, and construction-related government regulations Prepare and maintain detailed project reports, documents, files, inspections, and contractor pay estimates, including documenting and verifying quality, quantity of materials, and workmanship for completed work Monitor and inspect construction and maintenance projects to ensure the project complies with and conforms to the contract and other specifications and details Plan, schedule, and coordinate inspection throughout the various construction phases with contractors, subcontractors, utility companies, survey crews, materials lab, consultants, geotechnical firms, developers, and engineers as construction progresses Investigate, answer, and assist with the resolution of public relations questions and complaints from the public, contractors, and other agencies Perform mathematical calculations for estimates, cost analysis, material quantities, coverage rates, grade slopes, and other activities Inspect and verify that the temporary traffic control is set up and maintained per the approved traffic control plan, Manual on Uniform Traffic Devices (MUTCD), and other applicable standards Review contractors' schedules for feasibility; submit requirements by having the self-initiative to "look ahead" (proactive); identify potential problems, and find a solution for the obstacles. This requires the verification of work completed before scheduling survey, materials testing, or any other resource Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly. Work in various environments such as live traffic, open trenches/pits, while also lifting, pushing, or carrying up to 50 pounds of various equipment types Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration. Walking a long distance, standing and sitting for long periods, bending/kneeling, climbing, walking on slopes, crawling, and wearing protective gear in extreme temperatures The position requires a driving vehicle. Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. Exposure to extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, or dusty conditions on roadway projects, bending/kneeling, climbing, walking on slopes, crawling, and wearing protective gear in extreme temperatures Must be able to adapt to rapid change and work frequent unscheduled overtime, nighttime, and weekends as needed indoors, outdoors, in extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, or dusty conditions on roadway projects. Candidate must display effective communication (written and verbal), be organized, detailed, accurate, and self-motivated. The position requires working alone with minimal supervision, dealing with difficult situations and customers, and documenting information in detail. The position requires driving a vehicle, walking long distances, standing, sitting for long periods, bending/kneeling, climbing, walking on slopes, crawling, and wearing protective gear in extreme temperatures.
